Week 10: Prune

Posted Monday, July 09, 2007 3:46 PM

With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will too.)

re: Week 10: Prune

Can we at least compare the baby to something appetizing a kumquat or an apricot or something. I mean come on...a prune!

re: Week 10: Prune

Agreed....I dislike saying prune this week.  Green olive last week was cute...

I've been going with walnut for week 10 :)

lol my baby is not a big fan of being called a prune. I, too, have chosen "walnut." From peanut to walnut, woohoo!

I have no problem calling my little one a prune for this week.  Prunes have saved my life lately!  :)  YAY PRUNES!

i like prunes, and if the size is accurate, i say viva la prune. plus, ladies who may have c-sections, it's true, prunes may be very helpful after birth (if you know what i mean!)

PRUNE! Prunes are Super Tasty, I love prunes. My grandma loved prunes, I'm all for the name.

*I also agree with the second post, Walnut would have been cute too.

re: Week 10: Prune

OK. I am the dad. My wife really does not like prune. Like other bloggers, we agree that a shriveled up thing should not be used as a comparison. Kumquat is cute, and so is walnut but if the Nest insist on using shriveled up things for 10 weeks then maybe they should do a "box of raisins" instead. Especially if you are having twins that would be cuter in my opinion. In either case since we are not having twins we are going with "cherry", what type of cherry is entirely up to you. We like Rainer.

Has anyone else had their morning sickness all of the sudden get worse!?! I've been fine all along except for a little nausea that comes and goes... until mid 9th week. Now all of the sudden I threw up and I feel so sick all day long! I'm wondering if maybe I have a flu bug or if my morning sickness just got worse!

re: Week 10: Prune

Prune? So not a fan...So I went to the doctor today, and I was expecting to get my first ultrasound. I was very anxious, but to my suprise the stupid nurse just wanted to take blood and check my family history. She said she would have to schedule another appoinment for the Ultrasound. I was so upset and cried when I left the office. I really want to hear my baby's heartbeat. Besides she could have taken blood weeks ago. Now I have to wait another TWO WEEKS :-(

For those that are not a fan of the fruit/baby analogy... check out a book called A Child is Born by Lennart Nilsson.  This book has awesome pictures week by week, esp. for the first trimester.  It helps me to see what the embryo/fetus actually looks like, rather than thinking of fruit and guessing.

There are better things than prunes, I guess... but there are worse things too. Funny, my MS also got worse during mid-9th week. Second time I've thrown up since I got PG. Seems to have been better today at 10 weeks, but will keep watching. My body is also getting bigger and thicker. Great to know this is normal!

I just got back from my 1st dr visit and they confirmed I was 10 weeks with u/s, but when I asked to hear the heartbeat they told me it was dangerous to the baby to use dopplar so early.  anyone else ever heard this?

SUCESS AFTER A LOSS!!!!  10 weeks and counting!! I got to hear my baby's heartbeat at 6 weeks during my ultrasound.  No one said anything about it being dangerous.  I just can't tell if I am showing or not.  I overendulged over christmas break ( I'm a teacher).  Also I have the worst lower back/ass pain.  It literally feels like someone is stabbing me by my tailbone.  I plan on seeing a chiropractor tomorrow.  I really hope she can fix this!!!!

re: Week 10: Prune

I had a checkup yesterday and got to hear the heartbeat on the doppler for the first time.  It was so neat!  Very faint, but we could definitely hear it.  I'm feeling good, other than being very tired.  My husband & I will be going for genetic testing in a few weeks, and we will have our next ultrasound then.  I can't wait to see how big the baby is then!

Posted by Krab    Thursday, February 19, 2009 9:39 AM

re: Week 10: Prune

My doctor told me that they usually don't use doppler until 10 weeks or more because they think it may be too intense. There's not really been a long term study done on it to prove anything. They said that some doctors use it as early as 6 weeks, but they the OB/GYN I go to said they think it's best practice to wait.

We've seen the heart beating though!

re: Week 10: Prune

I wasn't having any morning sickness at all until I went in for my gestational diabetes test, where they make you gulp down this sugary soda drink in less than 5 minutes and make you wait an hour, and test your blood.  about 45 minutes into it i had to excuse myself in the middle of the nurse's family history questions to go to the bathroom!  it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be to get sick, i felt better immediately.  but that kick started my morning sickness and i was terribly sick for three days after, i am now on nausea medicine and it is a miracle!! I feel normal again!  =)  I am suppossed to do a 3 hour test tomorrow but i don't think my tummy can handle it right now.

I am 10 weeks today, this is my first baby. I am very excited and can't wait to meet the little person that is living inside of me! I too think that it's funny to see people try to guess if it's a boy or a girl. I've been getting asked if I want a boy or a girl too...my response? I would like a healthy baby.  Even though I am only 10 weeks, I am finding it hard already to get dressed sometimes, as my clothes seem to have shrunk! lol As for the whole calling our babies a prune thing, I am not to keen on that, so I've been calling my baby a jellybean as to me that is what I feel it is...my lil jellybean.

re: Week 10: Prune

I swear I will never ask another pregnant woman if she wants a boy or a girl. I feel like I am going crazy answering that question all the time. I feel like a broken record saying I don't have a preference I just want a healthy baby. Anyone else getting the same questions over and over?

Posted by ilenegrace    Friday, March 20, 2009 11:39 AM

re: Week 10: Prune

My question that I keep getting has been similar :  "Are you going to find out if it's a boy or a girl"  I guess no one cares what I want  lol  This is a debate between DH and I - I want to know, he doesn't.  Got a few weeks to come to a final decision!

On the morning sickness topic, I had been nauseous (no puking though thank goodness) for like 6 weeks straight, then last week it was off and on, and this week it's gone!  I guess that's "normal" but you ladies are right - it makes you really wonder, is everything OK!

I'm not bothered by what it is this week because it will be something else in 7 days anyway.

The thing I am finding difficult is the waiting. I had my first midwife appointment last week, but won't have my first scan until 11th June. Only family and close friends know, but I am so anxious to know everything is okay. I will say I could do without the achy needle feeling in my boobs though...ouch!

re: Week 10: Prune

I told my mother that I wasn't such a fan of calling the baby a prune. She said "Just remember that somewhere in the future, that baby is going to drive you nuts. Like when he/she is going through puberty. Then you won't think calling him/her a prune is such a bad thing! I laughed and figured that works for me.

re: Week 10: Prune

Since I had my ultrasound when I was 9 weeks, the baby looked like a little peanut, I'd prefer calling my baby my peanut! I'll be 10 weeks this weds.! So exciting to be able to have an idea on how much my babies growing! Can't wait until I can feel the kicking!!

re: Week 10: Prune

Wow!  I don't feel like I even got to enjoy Green Olive!  My doctor called him a Gummi Bear at the ultrasound so we've started on that!  lol  Here's a question for you all: has anyone else become some sort of forced vegetarian these days?  I can't stand meat!

re: Week 10: Prune

I hear you on the forced vegetarian!  Meat no longer sounds good, smells good, or tastes good.  I hope that doesn't last forever!!!!

Week 10: Prune

I like saying my baby is a grape this week :)   I found that size on another website.

Of course, Prune/Peanut/Grape - I don't care, I'm just happy the baby is growing!!

re: Week 10: Prune

If you think Prune is bad, another site compared the baby to a Garden Beatle in week 10!  Wowsers!

re: Week 10: Prune

Wait, what is the big deal here? You all don't like that it's not a cute fruit? I thought this was about size comparison, not if your baby will taste good or is a nice plump fruit.

re: Week 10: Prune

In another book I've been reading it said baby is the size of a walnut...I like that better :)

re: Week 10: Prune

Prune sounds JUST fine to me. I think I would feel a little funny calling it a kumquat. Just my own personal opinion. I'm happy to have made it to week 10 and am excited to see the dr again so we can hear the hearbeat!

re: Week 10: Prune

I've been using the motto Grow Baby Grow too.  That's all that really matters to me... olive, prune, i can't believe baby will be a lime next week!!!!  that is so big!

re: Week 10: Prune

I think the prune analogy is quite ironic as I was starting to think that was the only thing that was going to get the bowels to move!

re: Week 10: Prune

Are people seriously making a fuss about the word prune?  Are you serious?!  Get a life.  People like this shouldn't be allowed to reproduce.  If you make such a big deal about this I feel sorry for your kid for all the ridiculous things you are going to complain about during their life!  Quit posting that garbage.
