Weeks 3 & 4: Poppyseed

In week 3, sperm meets egg, and voila: conception! Your little zygote sets off on a six-day trek through your fallopian tubes, dividing and redividing into identical cells as it travels to your uterus.

In week 4, now safe in your womb, the ball of cells (blastocyst) splits in two, becoming the embryo and the placenta. The amniotic sac and fluid are forming around baby, and will act as a cushion for the next eight months.

You might want to include the number of weeks from conception as well, since this is the number most doctors will give women. That way women who know how far along they are will have an accurate picture of where their baby is at. Other than that I think this website is great. Oh and some pictures would be nice as well. It's amazing how much a 4 week old fetus actually looks like a baby already.

Neither can I, smrodrigues1!  I'm just so surprised at how quickly we got pregnant; we're very blessed.  The hardest part right now is waiting to tell everyone until we know we're "safe."  I'm so excited and can't contain myself!

The weeks are counted from your last menstrual period. That is how the doctors count also.  That's why there are 10 months (not 9) =40 weeks in a pregancy, starting from your last period.

Wow, look at all of us newbies to pregnancy.  I'm at 4 weeks after 4 months of trying.  Ready for the roller coaster ride!!!!  I'll feel better at three months but thank goodness we have about 10 months for this wild ride, i'm still getting over the shock!

I'm having a lot of cramping too but a lot of women tell me this is happening to them too!  I wouldn't worry unless there's bleeding or cramps so bad you can't move!

I just came from my obgyn today and have my first pic of my baby!!  We've only been married a month and we're gonna have a family! I'm still in shock.....i had taken 2 preg tests over the weekend before seeing the doc.   Now it feels for real and I can't wait to tell my family!! I don't know how long I'll be able to keep from them.....only time will tell.

We too got pregnant on the first shot!  We confirmed it with the Dr. this Wednesday and my next appointment is in 2 weeks.  We even got an ultrasound and saw our little "poppyseed", AMAZING!

We just found out we were pregnant on Saturday too!  Well at least that's what the First Response told us.  It wasn't a heavy line, but it was definitely noticeable and came up when I tested again Sunday too. Plus, I still haven't gotten my period so I really think (hope) we are pregnant!

WOW! After being on birth control for sixteen years and worried it would take us forever to conceive, my husband and I just found out two hours ago that we are pregnant! I took a home test and it is positive so I'm hoping a blood test tomorrow from the doctor's will confirm it! We can't wait to tell everyone!!

Found out Saturday that we have a poppyseed! We were so surprised because it had only been one month.  We were only 1/2 way trying too!  I'm absolutely exstatic. :) I have to wait until tomorrow to call the doc and set up my first appointment. The secret is killing me. Can't wait to tell everyone!

We are in the 4week window also of pregnancy. I noticed a lot of people are saying they are waiting to tell people until they are "safe". What do you mean by safe?? My dh and I are planning on telling people right away.

Safe means out of the first trimester.  The rate for a miscarriage is high during the first three months vs the 2nd and 3rd trimesters.

I just found out on Thursday, we have our own little poppyseed(s)!!!!  I couldn't hold it from my family either.  I just had to tell them immediately.  I didn't think about waiting until after the first trimester...everytime I think about this new life that's forming inside of me, I just try to thank God for what he has done and ask for protection over my baby and I.   CONGRATULATIONS everyone!!!

My hubby and I have been hoping to get pregnant for about a year now. It's day 41 in my cycle, no signs of starting, I've been feeling very tired, and 1 pregnancy test came back positive and 1 came back negative . . .what's up with that???

My husband and I just found out we have our very own poppyseed after only 1 month of trying. We feel very blessed and pray that God will watch over us and "spud" and get us safely through this first trimester (as well as the entire pregnancy).

We FINALLY have a little poppyseed, too!  We have been trying for almost three years and have had one miscarriage.  We could really use prayers!  I'm scared to death.

i just found out 2 days ago we have a poppyseed too! we are trying to keep it quiet for a few more weeks but it is so hard! we feel so blessed as we were only trying about 2 months. i'm having cramps that feel like i have been flexing my stomach muscles a lot but it sounds like that is normal. can't wait till the dr. appt. on oct. 6! They said they will probably do an ultrasound then as we may be able to already hear a heart beat at that time. WOW!

i just found out this morning that i'm pregnant. i took a test although i thought it would be too early to take one but i guess my levels are high enough that it took. i'm only 2 weeks in and i have a dr. apt. next week! i haven't told my husband yet (he's at work) and i can't wait to tell him. we've been married for about 4 months and weren't trying but also weren't not trying. i'm so excited. another week and i'll have my poppyseed!!:) right now i'm enjoying the cramping....

I just found out on Sunday that I was pregnant!!  So excited, I had my husband on the phone as I watched the little blue line make a + sign......We could not believe it so I went and bought two more tests, and of course, the same result!  We got married in June and that is when I got of my BCP, and we really havn't had a chance to try, because my husband has been working out of town, but he came home perfect timing to visit!!!  We were both soo excited that we kinda of let a lot of our friends and family know, so now I am really nervous.  I just hope everything goes OK and same to all of you out there!!!  I feel soo different right now!

We just got married 5 and a half weeks ago. Two days ago I took a First Response test and got the one strong line, and one very faint second line. We waited until this morning to take the second 'to be sure' test and got the same results. Called the dr to schedule a blood test to confirm and that's where we're at right now. I already have a 15 year old and she was my only so far. This would be my husband's first.  I tihnk I may only be 10 days to two weeks in! 38 to go! Whoo whoo!!! Love being preggers.

I am new here and I have a questions.  Maybe someone can help me.  This might sound stupid but, I have read a few girls say that they have to pee all the time.  When you have that urge to go, do you pee a lot or  a little?  I might be 4 weeks, but I have not taken a test yet. yeah I was having some of the wonderful sickness to it helps to keep your stomach full as hard as that seems just saltines and cheerios have been my saving grace and lots of ginger ale. that helped me just munching on those through out the day! good luck at your appointment mine is next wed I hate all this waiting.

I just took a pregnancy test and it was positive.  I am excited and very nervous right now.  My husband and I have only been married 4 months.  Is this too soon to have a baby?  We weren't trying and were taking precautions.  I'm only worried about his reaction now! My husband and I have been married for 2 years last week and we found out that week that we are having a poppyseed! We thought maybe we were futher along but at the ultra sound our tiny angel was too small to measure! We go to the Dr again Jan 22nd and we'll have more info then! We  broke down and told almost everyone...now just praying that God keeps me and my baby angel safe! Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!!

We are pregnant with lucky #7... well at least we think it's just one... we are 4 weeks and 1 day supposedly, I'd love to make some new Prego Pals on here being as how I know noone where we live... We have told our families and friends and we are soooo excited.

I am 4 weeks and 3 days along now, my Husband and I are SO EXCITED!!!  But we're also SO NERVOUS, I had just a tiny amount of spotting yesterday.  I go to the doctor next week, I was suprised my doctor was willing to see me so early!  Hopefully he will calm our worries.

it took me a whole week after I took the test to tell my husband that baby #3 was finally a definate!!! I had told him right before I took the test that it was a possibility because I just knew it and although he was happy I just couldn't spit it out... we were so busy!

Well, I apparently have a poppyseed too. I have known for about one week. I am having a hard time keeping this info to myself. I'm still kind of in shock too. I'm really lucky because my best friend is a midwife...unlucky because she's about to leave for Doctors Without Borders...but at least she gave me lots of good information. I'm looking for friends, so I'll be checking this site regularly.

I am also so excited about my little poppyseed.  I found out on January 19, my 27th birthday.  It was an awesome birthday present, because it was a complete surprise.  We just got married in October 2008 and weren't planning on having a baby this soon.  I also have a 6 year old who is ecstatic.  Its been so long since my first pregnancy, I feel like this is all so new to me.  All in all, we couldn't be happier!

I was at the OBGYN yesterday bemoaning that we could not get pregnant (2 years trying) and she said "Oh wait, before you go, let me do the PG test" (standard practice). She then says, "Look at this,. you're pregnant." I was like " Are you sure that's not a false positive". She was pretty sure, but took my blood anyway to make sure. I took another test first thing this morning and it was positive. We are excited, nervous, scared and happy. I estimate I'm about 3 wks according to when I think I ovulated and the last times we , um, tried.

I took a test this morning, BFP! We are expecting! It's hard to be excited because we had 2 mc in 2008. This time it's already different, no spotting! :) Wahoo!! My last mc was on 12/28....4 weeks later to the date (Today) I tested positive! I guess I don't know exactly the due date...but since I was able to pick up a positive test already (after the hcg levels going to 0 in early January) that I'm probably about 4 weeks then!

I never thought I would be posting on this website....but here I am! I took an early pregnancy test on 1/30 and got a faint positive. Then a dark positive on 2/1. I will be 5 weeks on 2/9. My husband and I are so excited!! We are really blessed that we got pregnant on the first try.  I am already retaining so much water and my breasts hurt. It's all worth it though! Congratulations to all of you mommies to be!!

I am at 4 weeks too, I just found out I was pregnant yesterday! We are so happy and I am glad I get to read everyone else's experiences. We have told two friends because they basically asked us directly if I was pregnant. My husband and I are not good liars! A co worker asked me three weeks ago when my due date was- isn't that crazy? She said she could have sworn I told her I was pregnant. I am beginning to see how the world and my experiences are already opening up to greet this child. I am already in awe of this process!

I'm a newbie as well. Just found out on Tuesday that I was FINALLY pregnant. I've been TTC for exactly 12 months, so I was super excited and SHOCKed when I saw two lines on the HPT. I took another test the next morning to make sure! I've already told my friends and my sister but I haven't told my mom yet (she didn't know that I was TTC). I'm kind of afraid to say anything so early, I want to make sure that this baby sticks! But I don't want to keep it from her too long, i'll probably end up telling her tomorrow.

We are poppyseed proud too! Got a positive  HPT this morning. Funny cause we tried in December and I got so frustrated from all the family pressure that when I got my period in January I thru a hissy fit. So Feb we barely had sex but when we did we enjoyed one another and POOF preggers. Im hoping this will work out. We miscarried in August after 7weeks so i'll be lazy and chill for the next 8weeks. We are going to tell our family very soon because after we miscarried last time his family didn't know we were even pregnant and kept laying the pressure, so this time we are letting them in and they can ride it out with us...for better or worse (hopefully for better!!!)

i got a positive last thursday, and was TOTALLY not expecting it. if anything i thought i had food poisoning (cramps, vomiting, fatigue), and i was totally ready to boycott the Chinese restaurant down the road. :-P.

sorta my miracle baby, too, i've had PCOS since i was 15, but my doctor told me to stop the Pill a few months ago (after an ultrasound told me the PCOS was gone) to make sure i'm still ovulating on my own. i'm getting married in late September, and 5-6 weeks later, my little poppyseed is due. at least i won't have to buy a new dress. awesome! :D

Just found out on Wednesday. Took a second HPT (digital one) since the first was so light. But looks like we have a poppyseed too!! It's such a strange feeling... it seems like it's so tiny and fragile, I'm afraid something will happen to it. But hoping for the best!!

I'm so relieved that I'm not the only one who got prego soon into pregnancy. My husband and I are going on 5 months of marriage and just found on on the 15th that we're pregnant. So yes, I also have a poppyseed. We weren't expecting to get pregnant this soon (it took all my sisters 1/2 yr-1 yr.) so it came as quite a shock. If it wasn't for my husband we wouldn't even know yet. I was just 1 day late, but he wanted me to pick up a test any way. I think we're getting past the shocked stage now and are getting excited. It's so hard not to tell anyone. I think we'll tell parents this weekend and the rest of my family the weekend after that. My first appointment is April 6th and I can't wait! My baby and I are going to have VERY close birthdays!

Poppyseed Momma

My husband and I have only been married 5 months. I have been off the pill for 3 months after almost 20 years of being on the pill. I thought it would take us a while. We weren't officially going to "try" to get pregnant until this summer. God has other plans. I've wanted a baby for a long time and we are so excited! I took three tests on Monday and they were all positive. I went to the doctor yesterday and we are officially 4 weeks and 2 days pregnant! The baby is due December 30th. Our little tax break!

I couldn't wait to tell my mom and my bridesmaids. DH's folks will know later this week. We figure that the people we are close to will want to share the joy as well as the diappointment should something happen. We'll need all the support we can get. We keep praying over the baby and my womb for God to keep the baby safe.

I can't stop thinking about the little poppyseed. I already love the little guy. My DH and I are just calling him "Da Seed" for the next couple of weeks. Congrats and good luck to all of you poppyseed mommas!

My husband and I found out on May 27. I had spotting and crampoiing and then I missed my period on the 27th. We took two tests that night and sure enough, both were positive! By my calculations, I believe we have a tiny poppyseed too! We go to the doctor this coming week!

I just found out yesterday!  The day after I got married and this am we took another pregnancy test and it was positive.  I am 4 weeks so I have a little poppyseed and I told my husband our poppyseed is in there.  We've been trying since April and each month had no luck...we thought that it wasn't going to happen, but WOW it did.  We are so happy.  I can't wait to see my doctor and find out how things are going.

I found out on Saturday about my little poppyseed. We are so excited. I didn't even think about waiting till I was out of the 1st trimester to tell anyone, I know God will protect him and keep us healthy. We have been trying since February. First doctors app. is set for Aug. 13, Can't wait!

This is the first month that we had been trying and we are pregnant with a poppyseed. I tested on July 1, a day before AF and it was positive. I tested three more times to be sure and they were  also all positive. We go to the doctor on July 21 to confirm with blood work. I can not believe it! It is so hard to keep it from my family! Just a couple of more weeks.

I wrapped up the four home tests in a box for my husband to open at dinner yesterday.  He had such a huge smile on his face when he figured out what the present was.  I already spilled the beans to my younger sister and told her I have a poppyseed.  It's going to be my little joke with her until I get the bloodwork done tomorrow.  So exciting!

We just found out today that we have a little poppyseed due in March! We are beyond shocked and excited!!! I didn't have any symptoms and actually thought my period was coming to the point where I was upset since we've been trying for 8 months.  I started charting and it did the trick. we were able to conceive during our first month of trying and found out i'm pregnant 2 days ago. its surreal! i still cant wrap my head around the fact that i'm me+1!  i thought it was so weird though that when i called the dr they made my first appt for 8/17 and not asap... any one else have that happen?

We found out yesterday that we are PG.  I am so excited!!  We had to have some help from Clomid, so it was very sweet to see that + sign.  Is anyone else cramping.  I am having some waves of strong cramps and lower back pain.

10 months does not equal 40 weeks.  There are 43.33 weeks in 10 months.  40 weeks is actually 9 months and a week.

I found out last Thursday the 8th and my doctor said they will see me on 8/14 to confirm the pregnancy and do an exam. We won't get and ultrasond for 3 more weeks! It's so hard to wait that long!! katspen- I have had cramping too, I am asking my doc about that on Fri, but I have been reading a lot of articles and most say it's probably gas ;-)

We just got married on July 10th and wow, first try and pregnant, confirmed today!  We are so amazingly excited.  First Dr appt is scheduled for 9/1.

I'm now 4 weeks along, and it makes me feel a lot less weird to be SO excited about my little poppyseed hearing everyone else talk about theirs. I've been so excited since day one, because I've wanted to be a mom since I was a little girl, and my husband and I are now ready and both very excited that it's happened, but just to hear about how big my baby is, and what it's doing even this early is just mindblowing. I HATE having to wait to tell everyone, but I know we need to be safe. I love how I feel already; I know my body is working hard to make this baby. <3

Hi Ladies! I am at 4 weeks and 2 days- and this is QUITE a surprise, as I just had an ectopic on 6/21. In other words, hubs and I got pregnant the first month after recovering from the ectopic and removal of a burst tube!!!! This time around, I am MUCH more skeptical/nervous, and am curious about whether I/we should share with friends and family... just in case it happens again... Thoughts?

My husband and I took an at home test yesterday and it was postive! I am ecstatic - we just got married August 1st! I am amazed and thrilled that it happened so quickly :) Best Wishes and Prayers to everyone - what an exciting time in all of our lives!  I, too, am already having a VERY HARD time not tell "everyone" and it hasn't even been a whole day yet.  Going to the Doctor Wednesday :)

So ladies, I'm confused, what is a DH?  lol.  I'm still in shock but so excited.  This is our first.  We got married August 21, went to Aruba for our honeymoon and came home with a souvenier :).  I know the date is based off my LMP, but I still don't quite understand how I'm 4 weeks pregnant when we conceived 2 weeks ago.  Can anyone help explain this to me?  Thanks and best wishes to all of the families!

Mu husband and I were just married Sept 5th and found out yesterday with a hpt and today with a blood test that we are 2 weeks pregnant!  Newlyweds to Expecting in 3 weeks flat! haha

I am so excited!!!!  I am entering my 4th week and I can't wait to get over the first trimester scare.  I am praying everyday for a healthy pregnancy.  My husband and I have been married for almost 5 years and I just got off the BCP at the end of august.  I can't believe it happened so fast.  I am just hoping for nothing but the best for this pregnancy and for everyone else on here.  I can't wait to get our first ultrasound.  I haven't really experienced any pregnancy symptoms except for headaches, lower back pain, and some cramping.  I feel so blessed.  I love being pregnant.

My husband and I have been married for a little over 6 months now. We have been TTC for only 2 months and just found out 3 days ago that we're expecting! Just found out we are pregnant last friday after our FIRST try!!!! I am 4 weeks as well and sooo excited! We couldn't wait to tell everyone, plus they all knew we were trying! The official 1st doc's appt won't be till the beginning of the year, I heard its better to wait till 8 weeks or later so you can hear a heartbeat and see the little baby better!

I am soooo excited to be pregnant!!! My husband is currerntly deployed and we decieded to try before he left. On our first try we got pregnant!!! We found out sat, he deployed on Monday and lucky for us he will be coming home right around the time the baby is due. We were both so excited we have already told our family and friends, now I am just taking it reallllllly easy. I am so excited!

I'm still not used to say "I'm pregnant." My fiance and I were NOT trying at all. But we are still excited! Anyone else a little worried about the first few weeks? My first doc's appt is Jan 4th and ultrasound the 8th. And we're getting married the 16th!

Well.....I got engaged on the 4th and peed on a stick last night (and this morning) and it had two lines.  Guess I have a poppyseed too...this will be my 3rd child but my 1st with FI.  I'm excited but very shocked!!  This wasn't planned at all but very welcomed.

I just took my test and it showed a faint positive line, which makes sense since I am not even supposed to get my period for 5 more days!  I had a m/c in Sept and I just couldn't wait to take the test.  Thank you for my new poppyseed and lets pray its a "sticky" one!!!!

I am just in awe.  I took a HPT today and it was positive.  I thought something might be up because I have been nauseated and burping alot....but I tried not to read to much into it.  AMAZING, 3 weeks and I feel amazingly happy.  :)

Just found out we're pregnant! Amazing, considering I was told by my Dr. that I would probably need to seek fertility treatment because I barely have my period. Not sure how far I am, my numbers suggest 2 weeks. So excited! Can't wait to tell people...so hard to keep this secret.
