Week 8: Raspberry

Posted Monday, July 09, 2007 3:26 PM

Your baby is growing like mad, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though you can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy.

For a raspberry, it sure does eat alot. I feel like I'm always hungry!!

Just went to the Doctor yesterday; sooo amazing to see that little heart beating like crazy.  We're so thrilled that the baby is healthy and the Doctor says everything is fine!!!

re: Week 8: Raspberry

Seeing pictures like this helps it to be more real.   We don't go to see the doctor (1st time) until February 28th, so it's hard to get a grasp on what's going on in there!!  I can't wait to see him/her!

re: Week 8: Raspberry

I totally agree with not knowing.  We have had our 1st appointment but that was 4 weeks ago.  We just want to hear the heart beat.  That will be very comforting.

We see the doctor for the first time tomorrow and this really helps to put in perspective what's going on.

I know that once we go to the doctor it will make it all so much more real. I won't feel like my body is being invaded, but that there is a living creature in there.

Congrats on the twins!  My hubby and I are actually hoping for 2 (they run in the family), but will certainly be happy with just one healthy baby.  We go tomorrow for our first u/s.  Guess we'll find out then if there's more than one...

re: Week 8: Raspberry

Is it normal, even though the doctor confirmed my baby, Somedays i feel like yeah right this is not happening? And I don't have a belly yet is that normal too?

Posted by anghos1    Wednesday, March 26, 2008 12:33 AM

re: Week 8: Raspberry

Anghos1, I think it's perfectly normal to be feeling the way you are.  I too have days were I think it's not real.  I've had no symptoms other than sore boobs (guess I should count my blessings).  We went for our first sono yesterday and it was definitely real.  If you haven't had your first sono yet, just wait...you'll see what I mean.  I don't really have a belly yet either.  I've only gained 2 lbs.  My clothes are a little snugger, but nothing dramatic is happening yet.

re: Week 8: Raspberry

I am jealous of the women without morning sickness, vomiting, extreme fatigue, sore breasts, constipation, etc etc.... this baby may be my third, but it is hitting me like a Mac truck!! My first two were a breeze... and both boys.... SO maybe this means I am getting a girl?? (and she's making me suffer early) lol.  this raspberry is hard on the body! :)

My little baby at 7 weeks 1 day is actually slightly bigger than a Raspberry! He/she was 8mm. :) I got to see the heartbeat too, it was amazing! It was like a little firefly in my stomach :) But thank God I do not have morning sickness. I do have the sore breasts, extreemmmeee fatigue, and some nausea.

My little Raspberry

This little guy or girl is wearing me out. I am so tired and nauseas all the time but thank GOD I'm not vomiting. I'm also VERY moody. I feel sorry for my poor husb. but he's been real good about all these changes so far. I can't wait to see my precious little one next week at my first ultrasound. This is my 2nd and I'm more nervous than my first. I wish I knew what it was now so I can start buying stuff it's driving me crazy.

re: Week 8: Raspberry

Hi there, I'm pretty new to the Nest. This is my second baby (my first is 17 months old now) and I too am finding it hard to believe! It took us a little while to get pregnant and to it almost doesn't seem real! Aside from being more hungry and tired, I feel pretty normal.....so different from my first pregnancy. My first midwife appointment isn't for 2 more weeks. We're so anxious to hear the heartbeat! I'm sure it will seem to much more real after that.

re: Week 8: Raspberry

I'm so jealous of all of you getting ultrasounds and hearing heartbeats already.  I saw my doc on the 22nd but she said it would be too early to find it.  So she doesn't want me back until the 28th of August.  I kind of feel like I'm going at this all by myself (although my DH is VERY supportive).  Anyone else being told to just wait?  This is my first and I just want to make sure everything is ok!

re: Week 8: Raspberry

This is our first, too!!  This raspberry sure is causing all kinds of stuff.  I'm tired and moody.  I'm not vomitting (thank God!) but very, very queasy.  We had our first ultrasound about two weeks ago, and next week we are so excited to hear the heartbeat!  We can't wait!!

re: Week 8: Raspberry

Jess&Jake......there is a website that you can rent a doppler so you can hear the heartbeat at home too.  It's www.babybeat.com

I am only just 6 weeks and my 1st Doctor appointment is in a week and a half. My Dr told me that we would be able to hear the heartbeat by then! It would drive me crazy to wait that long too :o)

re: Week 8: Raspberry

i am in my 8th week already and had my first dr appointment 3 days ago and my doctor said it was to early to hear the heart beat, i go for an ultrasound next week and i am so nervous. I already gained 25 lbs but i have extreme morning sicknes and fatigue and every other symptom out there that i never had with my son. I dont fit any of my clothes, all i can wear is dresses and my husbands sweats! I really hope its not twins or triplets or (gulp!) more! but to know its the size of a raspberry thats causing all my symptoms is kinda funny and scary to me. If im having this many problems with a raspberry now, what is it going to be like when its born?

re: Week 8: Raspberry

I am 7 weeks and 4 days prego. We had an ultrasound done at 6 weeks and we could see & hear the heartbeat. It was amazing! We go again on Sept 15th and I can't wait to see how much our raspberry has grown! This is our first "good" pregnancy. We had a miscarriage in January and we could never hear the heartbeat w/ that one. So, it's so relieving to have heard it already.

Ah Sara, I know exaclty how you feel.  Same deal for us.  Didn't work out the first time around, but as soon as you see that little heart beat, it's just the craziest feeling.  We don't get to see the doc that early up here.  Even though I am high risk, I've been once, just for a quick one and to get in for this ultrasound.  Otherwise, my first official appointment isn't until Oct 14.  And I'll be 14 weeks by then.  It's crazy.

re: Week 8: Raspberry

I am going to the doctor tomorrow.  I went a week and a half ago but they didn't pick up a heartbeat yet.  Last week was so horrible though, I had the worst morning sickness and couldn't take my prenatal vitamin for a week either.  I hope that isn't bad but I couldn't keep the vitamin down.  This week, I feel a little better, but the nausea is still pretty bad and the sore boobs I can deal with. I can't wait to see the difference in size of my little one tomorrow compared to the last image I got.

Yea! Our little raspberry. I can't wait to hear our little one's heartbeat too, but we don't have our first appointment for another two weeks. We had a miscarriage the first time, so I'm really anxious to hear the heartbeat and know that everything is okay. I just have sore boobs and a little nausea every now and then, so that makes me nervous too.

Wow! 8 weeks!! We went to the OB on 11/17 and had an ultrasound. We saw the baby's heartbeat! It was beautiful. I have been experiencing lower abdominal cramping and chills. So I am kind of worried. Will probably call OB today. I am scheduled to go back on December 8th. Anyone else experiencing this?

re: Week 8: Raspberry

ebarba28, I just read this online. Check out http://www.i-am-pregnant.com/Pregnancy/calendar/week/8. You can enter your due date and it will show you a baby update every week!

"One of the symptoms that you might feel around this time of your pregnancy is cramping or pain in your lower abdomen or side as your uterus grows. Some pregnant women feel tightening or contractions of the uterus. Do not get alarmed if you do not feel this though. If tightening of the uterus or contractions is accompanied by bleeding, you should contact your healthcare provider immediately. Many pregnant women also experience an occasional pain that begins in their buttocks and radiates down their back or legs. This is known as sciatic nerve pain and can be extremely painful at times. More than likely the pain is caused by the pressure on the nerve and it is best to lie on the opposite side to relieve the pressure."

The 18th was our last one and we got some hard news.... my doc pretty much said we were going to have a miscarriage. However, i'm hanging in there and still have all the symptoms. Today I officially have a "raspberry".  Yesterday my husband and I got to hear the heartbeat, and have an ultrasound.  It was wonderful to see the teeny tiny little one for the first time!  We have a daughter who is almost 6, and she is over the moon excited about this baby!  Best of luck to everyone!  I pray all of your babies are healthy and strong!  :)

re: Week 8: Raspberry

Yeah!  8 weeks, 1 day today.  So excited.  I am feeling great, other than exhaustion and moodiness. My cramps have gone away, which was a welcomed relief.  My next ultrasound is on Feb. 18th, can't wait.  It was so fun to see our baby's heart beat, I'm sure our rasberry will be so much bigger on the 18th! Yesterday my tummy was so puffy.  It's stressful anytime I have to get dressed because I'm too small for maternity clothes, but I have a "muffin top" in my regular clothes.  Anyone have any good recommendations for this weird size period?  I wear sweats as much as possible, and I use the rubber band trick for my pants...  Congrats to all of you preggers out there!

re: Week 8: Raspberry

I am now 8 weeks and 1 day. My husband and I are so excited. No problems yet, but I have every symptom imaginable!! Bad dreams, terrible nausea, throwing up a little, fatigue, moodiness, breast tenderness, and definitely going to the bathroom all the time! Our next appt is the 16th, and we'll be able to hear the heartbeat then! I am now getting to the point where my clothes are little snug. Honestly I'm wearing the same pants just with longer shirts so I can leave the pants unbuttoned! I've found eating all the time helps the nausea a bit, but it's still pretty bad. Still excited though, congratulations to everyone else!

re: Week 8: Raspberry

I to share the to small for maternity clothes but to big for my clothes dilema but I have found a great solution. Target carrys bands that you can wear over your regular pants allowing you to leave them unbuttoned and the wrap looks like a t-shirt so no one knows the difference.

re: Week 8: Raspberry

Yeah! Today we have made it to our 8 week point!!! Last week we got to see the baby and heartbeat. It was about the size of a tic tac... This week it's a little over 1/2 " long and about the weight of a check!!! It's so weird how everything grows and develops so fast... In the begining of the pregnancy i was cramping so bad, but that has finally lightened up... Just a little every now and again. I've started feeling a little morning and evening sickness! Boobs hurt like crazy... All part of being pregnant though...

Oh, and i too have a little pudge and started using the rubber band trick on my jeans, and am wearing longer T's and babydoll shirts! It just makes me feel a little less bloated and A LOT MORE COMFORTABLE!!!

CONGRATS TO ALL OF US 8 WEEKERS OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by jtquick    Thursday, February 05, 2009 8:28 PM

re: Week 8: Raspberry

Yeah, I hear you on the snug jeans. It's like, in the morning, things are ok, but by evening the bloat has set in and I feel like I look 4m already! I haven't started wearing the bella band yet, but I have one ready....

I am eight weeks today and just found last week that I was pregnant. Our doctor's appoinment is tomorrow and I am pretty excited!

Reading these, I am so glad to know that my belly is not the only "puffy" belly on the block at this far along.  I am trying to eat well, and eat when I am hungry but I still have a belly! My boyfriend thought I might LOSE weight because I haven't had a drink (alcohol) since finding out. No dice on having lost weight, which is just fine with me! I just don't want to get so big that it's hard to lose the weight...

re: Week 8: Raspberry

Coleydahl-  I talked to the Dr. a little about travel because I travel via car fairly often.  The Dr. told me that pregnant women are prone to blood clots, and to make sure that you are getting up and stretching your legs.  Don't sit for long periods of time.  Travel is ok up to 32 weeks I believe, but regardless of how far you travel, just make sure you get up and walk around maybe every hour or so.  Keep the blood movin and keep the baby healthy! :o)  Good luck!

re: Week 8: Raspberry

We just went last week for an ultrasound and the baby was so tiny!  But you could see little arms and legs and see the heartbeat.  The best part was hearing the heartbeat though, it was so fast!  thumpthumpthump!  It was unreal!

re: Week 8: Raspberry

I am 8 wks, excited about turning 9. Every week its more and more exciting! I have an apt with a midwife next week.. We will see how that goes. I also have an appt the following wk with an ob/gyn. I cant decide which route I want to go. My child is already getting gifts from both sets of grandparents. This will be a 1st grandchild for BOTH sides!! Spoiled kid!!  =)

I cant wait to hear his/her lil heartbeat and see their lil wiggly body! Its sooo excited. It makes me want to cry just thinking about it! I cant wait for our 1st Ultrasound.

Has anyone used a midwife???? I want some pro's/cons of their experiences. Also, is anyone else going to have the babys sex be a surprise?

re: Week 8: Raspberry

I am going to my first u/s on wednesday and cannot wait!!!  We are using a Dr. with a midwife.  My regular Dr. recommended using a midwife.  She said it's a lot more personal.  She had 5 babies and said with the 5th she had a midwife and loved every second of it...

We too (well me) would like the sex to be a surprise.  However my husband, best friend, father in law all want us to find out the sex...I said if I am having twins we will find out the sex...haha...odds of twins very doubtful!!  I think not finding out is part of the fun and excitement!!!

re: Week 8: Raspberry

My first appointment isn't until the 27th, but I'm definitely feeling pregnant already!  My lil' raspberry is making me nauseous for several hours every day, and the fatigue is wearing me down!  Can't wait to hear that little heartbeat, though!

re: Week 8: Raspberry

We are 8 weeks & I've only had a consultation, blood work and urine test done. At our first appointment I mentioned to the doc that I thought I would get some sort of "proof" that there was a baby in there, but she said they typically don't do ultrasounds until 20 weeks unless they suspect something is wrong. She didn't even try to find a heart beat (we were about 6weeks @ first appt) so we wont get to hear the heartbeat until our next appt (March 18th....ugh!) Did anyone else have to wait til 13 weeks to even hear a heart beat?? It's so hard to hear everyone talking about their first ultrasounds knowing that by the time we get our first peek at the baby, we'll be over half way done :(

re: Week 8: Raspberry

RE: Linusgurl

Sorry to hear that - what a bummer. Our doc did our first ultrasound at our first appointment, 7 weeks. We heard and saw the heartbeat. Our next is schedule at 10 weeks, then at 14 weeks. Maybe you should consider switching doctors while you're still in the first trimester?

re: Week 8: Raspberry

Thanks for the sympathy! :( I am in a small town in Ohio and already drive almost 40 minutes to our current doctor because good doctors are hard to come by around here. This is the 5th OB-Gyn I have gone through and they do a good job, so I don't think switching is an option at this point. It's just hard not having any proof (other than queasiness and my expanding waistline, etc!) I am planning on talking to her about it at our next visit because I really feel that it's important for us to experience these milestones, especially with this being our first baby. Thanks for the support.

re: Linusgirl

I'm in the same boat with you.  I'm 8 weeks today, and at 6 weeks we had our OB intake appt with the nurse, with the same things you had done.  My first "real" appt isn't until 11 weeks, so I have been wanting some sort of other confirmation as well!  It is difficult to hear about everyone else already hearing the heartbeat so soon.  However, after reading the post today (2/22), "how early did you hear the hearbeat", it seems that most people only heard the hearbeat early if they did an internal ultrasound, otherwise those that heard it with a Doppler, they were waiting until the same time we have to wait.  So, maybe it's possible that our Drs. only do Dopplers then to hear the heartbeat?  I think if you read that post, you'll know we aren't alone.  Mine also said they offer an ultrasound at 20 weeks, which makes me wonder, what will happen at the 15/16 week appt?

My first appointment and sono is coming up on Monday and I can't wait. Zophran is a miracle drug for nausea but I haven't had a BM in 10 days and I stopped taking it 3 days ago. I'm gonna ask for a different miracle I think b/c right now I look a lot further along than I really am! :)

re: Week 8: Raspberry

i had an internal u/s @ 7 weeks, only because I was bleeding. Iw as excited to see the baby and hear the heartbeat..but i was nervous too. It wasn't for a good reason. Everything turned out ok though. I had an intake w/ the Nursepractitioner at about 6 weeks. Otherwise my first appointment with the Dr. isn't until St. Patricks' Day.  But definately right. It became more real when I got to see the ultra sound. That there was something in there...and only 1. haha.  Good luck everyone! :-)

re: Week 8: Raspberry

I hope its normal... I feel pretty bloated too. I actually had someone ask me if I was pregnant today, that completely threw me off. I was so surprised that she could tell since I am only 8 weeks.

I have my first official doctor appt on the 13th (had an early ultrasound at 6 weeks) I can't wait to hear the heartbeat for the first time... and find out if there is more than one baby in there... my family and friends are guessing twins since they run in both our families.

re: Week 8: Raspberry

My first appointment is on Tuesday (march 10th) I am so excited, but I guess it will just be with the nurse, and I don't have my pelvic exam scheduled until April 2nd.  I am so happy that I haven't had any morning sickness, since severe morning sickness runs in my mom's side of the family.  I am a twin, and I was on Clomid while I was trying to conceive, so my chance of having twins or multiples is high, so we shall see!  I am just feeling so amazed and blessed because we tried for 14 months to get pregnant before we found out.  This is a dream come true for me =)

re: Week 8: Raspberry

Congrats Mindyland!  We are due around the same time and my pelvic exam isn't until March 31st.  My mother also suffered from severe morning sickness...for all 9 months!  I am counting my blessings for not being sick at all.  Best of luck to you and your raspberry!

Mindyland, very werid my first 2 appointments are the exact same days!  On the 10th we had our meeting with the nurse.  I asked about an u/s and they gave me one the next day!  nice to find out we are all good!  We saw the heartbeat and our little raspberry is perfect.  My exam isnt until April 2nd.

Im 8 weeks and approaching 9 in the next 2 days. I go for my first doctors appointment and U/S on Monday. Im excited to hopefully see the heartbeat and to know that all is going well. I have a slight pouch i guess. I already had a belly before i got pregnant, it just pokes out a little more now lol. My appetite has gone out the window. I get full really fast off of just a little food. I eat about 3 times a day. I havent had morning sickness too bad, just nauseaus all day long. Ive found that drinking peppermint tea has help to subside the quizzizness.

We're a Raspberry tomorrow, but the DH keeps calling it a crunchberry :)  My first appt isn't for 11 more days.  I hope we get to hear the heartbeat.  We're waiting to tell family and friends until we are sure everything is okay.  I'm 31, and this is our first, so I'm worried about miscarriages.  I've gained about 5 lbs (all right there in front, so I unbutton the pants when I have to sit down!), and my bb's are SO incredibly sore.  Nausea (but no vomiting thank goodness), gassiness, and constipation are my only other symptoms.  No moodiness, no cravings... Is this real?

I am 8 weeks and 4 days today.  We were excited to see the heartbeat last week and a baby, because a couple of weeks before there was just a gestational sac.  It's amazing what God can do, in such a short time even, but hey He created a world in 7 days.

I thought the nausea was subsiding, but it hit me like a Mac truck on Sunday and Monday (I had to take off sick).  I think I over did it at a family reunion this past weekend.  I am thanking God, because right now, I'm finally eating my Chick-fil-a sandwich one bite at a time, yesterday, I don't know if I could've stomached it.

My fiance and I are keeping it a secret until our wedding - in SEPTEMBER!  I'll be 17 weeks by then - but we don't see our families very often and we want everyone to find out at the exact same time.  SO - we're incorporating it into our slideshow for the reception.  It's a HARD secret to keep from our loved ones, but I'm determined to make it happen.

So far the only ones who know are me & the fiance, my BFF (for support), and my coworkers.

Eight weeks is still early yet to hear a heartbeat.  I had my first u/s at 6 weeks and even then my baby was so tiny and the u/s barely picked up an image.  We could see the slight flickering of the heartbeat, though which is very exciting.  It was a fluke I got to get in so early, as they estimated I was further along than I really was.

I get choked up a little every week when I check this and see what is going on with my little one, and how big it is. I can't wait for my first appointment in less than a month, to be able to see it finally and hear its heartbeat.

I just wish I weren't so sick - I told my husband last night I hated being pregnant because I was miserable, but I know (hope!) in a few weeks, the morning sickness will go away and I'll love it.

re: Week 8: Raspberry

Wow...A rasberry..so little, but i feel the baby is so much bigger since i am so hungry all the time!! I eat like every 2 hours. Our ultrasound at 6 weeks( 2 weeks ago) was amazing! It  was so awesome to see that little heartbeat. I get to go for my 2nd ultrasound on February 3rd! Cannot wait to see how much our little one has grown!

re: Week 8: Raspberry

We go to our first ultrasound next Monday and I can hardly wait.  I also have been fairly lucky with the morning sickness - just naseau at night before I go to bed, and sore breasts.  Other than that no vomitting.  I did hear an old wives tale that morning sickness early on in pregnancy indicates a girl, and none or little is a boy.

re: Week 8: Raspberry

My husband I and I decided that we're going to try to take a picture of our son (10 months) every week next to 'the fruit of the week' so when our children get older they can compare their sizes.

re: Week 8: Raspberry

8 weeks today : ) yay!  So excited for our first little raspberry!! We had our first ultrasound two weeks ago and saw the heart beating.  Truely amazing!  Our next visit is in two weeks, so we will be able to hear the heart beating this time.  I cannot wait until the first trimester and morning sickness are over!

re: Week 8: Raspberry

I find it amazing that a lot of you had ultrasounds done so early. Around here, we don't get to have one done until week 18-20....and then it is only one, unless you have complications.
