Week 14: Lemon

Posted Monday, July 09, 2007 4:21 PM

Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

I love my lil lemon but cannot wait until I am big enough to be able to fit into maternity clothes, nothing fits, too big or too tight!

I have gas and you probably do too. I doubt its a flutter...sorry to say

re: Week 14: Lemon

Just give in and buy the maternity clothes!  Since it's a transitional time you can get great sales on leftover summer stuff and start getting fall stuff too!  I highly recommend A Pea in the Pod!  14 weeks for me too and so far I haven't felt anything - but my poor doctor has to be patient to get an u/s of my acrobat - it's been thrashing all four limbs around for a few weeks now!

re: Week 14: Lemon

how come in week 13 the baby was jus a peach and now it's a lemon. Isn't a peach larger than a lemon. Is the baby getting smaller? LOL (jus for jokes)

re: Week 14: Lemon

My DH keeps telling me its gas too like i wouldn't know the difference.  It took  me by surprise like someone was tapping the inside of my belly going "Hey mom"' "hey mom"!  I think DH is just upset he can't feel it himself yet.

Yes, I've definitely gotten a very sudden baby bump.  It just like happened over night.  I can't even zip my pre-preggers pants anymore.  I definitely need to get some more maternity clothes.

That's so strange that my baby is sucking it's thumb in my tummy?!

Posted by LB_RACHEL    Friday, October 10, 2008 5:38 PM

re: Week 14: Lemon

I had another u/s yesterday and the baby WAS sucking his/her thumb!! It was so cute! The doc said "do you see that??" Amazing. I definitely popped a few weeks ago.. but this is my 4th pregnancy (second child). I've been feeling baby flutters for at least a few days now. I think it's because if it's not your first baby you know what to expect as far as that type of feeling.

Posted by DeniseZ    Wednesday, October 29, 2008 8:49 AM

re: Week 14: Lemon

Is there a "good way" to feel the flutter? My mom said she used to lay on her belly and could feel it then. What should first-time-moms be looking for? I want to feel it!

Posted by spoonere    Wednesday, October 29, 2008 5:35 PM

re: Week 14: Lemon

It's definitely a "flutter" type feeling.. not a cramp or pinch. Almost like muscle spasms feel. In fact, some of the time you might very well be feeling uterus spasms.. so it's hard to tell at first. Last night I had to jump out of bed and run to my son's room because he had a bad dream. When I layed back down I felt it fluttering for a minute. Another time right after I coughed or sneezed.. like I had woke him/her up.  ;)  Most times it's just random.

Lemons! I got to hear my little lemons heartbeat last week. It was amazing. Both me and my husband walked out of there in awe. I think it just became a reality that there really is a little child in there! I think I'm finally over my morning sickness too. I've been feeling great and more like myself again.

re: Week 14: Lemon

no fluttering yet, but does anyone know if we could feel the baby pushing?  it feels often like the baby's heels are pushing against my stomach.  My normal clothes are tighter or just completely too small, depending, but maternity clothes swallow me whole!  So frustrating!  But it's fun to be showing now!  And finally past the "morning" sickness!

dont worry I have not gained a pound yet and my stomach just doesnt look flat like it used too...I dont feel pregnant yet either...but my doctor said its fine not to be showing this early if its your first kid (you pop earlier after you have more)  :)

re: Week 14: Lemon

i had a little "roll" above the waist of my jeans.. you know?  the little roll that hangs over your jeans.  well, i now feel that my stomach is starting to feel in with the "roll".  most of my friends say that with your first baby you don't feel the "fluttering" until you are about 18 wks.  well, sometimes i feel something that is not gas.  i know what gas is because i usually end up expelling it.  haha!  i don't know.  i guess i won't really tell ppl i feel the baby moving until i see a hand or foot jabbing out of my stomach.  haha!

I know what you mean, I have a clearly defined little bump now which I'm so excited about!  I bought my first pair of maternity jeans the other night, but I keep having to pull them up... frustrating!  As for the flutters, I've felt a very little especially after I cough or laugh.  Love my Itsy Bitsy Lemon!

re: Week 14: Lemon

I knew I wasn't crazy! We had our 2nd OB appt last Wednesday and while waiting I told the nurse I thought I had felt the fluttering the day before. It felt like a combination of holding a butterfly cupped in your hands and a muscle spasm. The nurse was a little rude & quickly shot me down saying I just had gas. So I am glad to hear that there are LOTS more of you having the same thing so soon! p.s. for anyone wondering about the size variance in the fruits (ex: 13 weeks = peach, but 14 weeks = lemon? isn't a lemon smaller than a peach?) the measurements are only based on length....so a lemon is longer than a peach. So you really can't look imagine the whole fruit inside your belly, just the length. Hope that helps!

I haven't felt any fluttering yet, I don't think anyway.  My stomach as ballooned like most of you.  I was also told from the doctor that I probably won't feel the baby until my 22nd week but I am hoping to feel that flutter very soon.  I turn 14 weeks tomorrow so I will see what the week brings.  My next u/s is the 8th of April, I'm ecstatic to see my little lemon drop.

I am in between clothes.  Pre-pregnancy is tight and maternity stuff is too big.  My pregnant gf told me to get Bella Bands.  They are stretchy and go over your pants so you can wear them unbuttoned!  Then they help you keep maternity pants on if they are too big or when your belly gets too big!  Saving me $$ on clothes now.  There should be a manual for us.

I do notice that after I play or walk or clean or sometimes laying in bed at night I can feel my uterus or the baby at the top of the uterus pushing making a hard lump in my groin area it feels weird and amazing.  It stays there a long time sometimes and only a short time sometimes when I start poking at it lol

I haven't been able to feel any fluttering, but I guess I haven't really been trying to feel it because I assumed it was too early. I thought my belly started showing last week, but it shrank back down again (I guess I was just bloated). Still a little sick, I have lost a lot of weight. Hopefully this lemon will ease up on me a bit in the next few days!!

re: Week 14: Lemon

I def felt some fluttering and flip flops last night. They say after your 1st pregnancy you can feel the flip/flops sooner. Def showing more this time around too. Can't wait to hear the heart beat again, even though these flutters are reassuring!

re: Week 14: Lemon

Very excited too!  Can't believe I am 14 weeks already.  Just wish I didn't have to wait so long for my next ultrasound.  Sometimes when I lay real still, it feels like something is fluttering around down there too, but everyone says it most likely isn't baby....who knows....

re: Week 14: Lemon-fluttering

I told my sister that I felt small flutters and she said that they flutters are most likely what is called quickening. It is the uterus growing.

re: Week 14: Lemon

ok so here is how you tell if the fluttering is gas or baby...if you toot a few minute after  you feel the flutter then it is gas if not it is the baby. Once you figure that out you will be able to tell the difference. Plus how does the DH know what the baby vs gas feels like? LOL! I am 14 weeks and been feeling the baby for about a week and a half. =)

re: Week 14: Lemon

My lemons have been popcorning for a few days already, I love it!  Its so exciting to be in the second trimester, especially since I've been in maternity clothes a few weeks already, lol.  I know with twins I'm bigger, but I was just feeling plain fat to be in them in the first trimester, lol

re: Week 14: Lemon

If I lay on a hard flat surface like the floor, I can feel it!!! It's like when your heart skips a beat...only down in your belly!!! It's awesome : ) I was over-zellous & got maternity clothes a few weeks ago & realized they were too big... They are fitting a little better these days. Go to the dr on the 25th to find out if our lemon is a BOY or a GIRL... Absolutely can NOT wait!! Just baought a house & want to paint the nursery : )

re: Week 14: Lemon

This is my second pregnancy and I'm almost 12 weeks along. I felt my son move at 15 weeks. I know the difference between gas and flutters and these are definitely flutters I'm having right now, not gas. Ladies, you know your bodies. You'll know when it's flutters. Don't let anyone, not even a doctor tell you differently. YAY FOR LEMONS!!!!

re: Week 14: Lemon

All this talk about lemons makes me want to send my hubby down to Panera and get me some lemonade.  Ooh, or maybe Ruby Tuesday's, theirs is good too.  I haven't felt baby move, but I am so glad I can finally eat a meal again!

re: Week 14: Lemon

I haven't felt the lemon moving around, but it certainly looks like I have a whole bushel in my belly. Yikes! I am a little over 14 weeks and brokedown and bought some maternity clothes this weekend and have to admit they are comfy as heck!

re: Week 14: Lemon

I didn't think it was possible yet, but I've definitely felt the flutters .. how exciting!   I bought maternity clothes last week, and I'm SO grateful for them - no more squeezing into uncomfortable jeans for me!  I remember getting frustrated hearing people say "you'll suddenly notice your belly grow - almost like overnight" - but it's true! Suddenly I have a bump!

I never thought we'd make it out of the first trimester!  Yay!  I just can't believe how big my belly is already, everyone keeps telling me I shouldn't be this big yet, but it sounds like I'm not the only one showing!
