Week 21: Banana

Posted Monday, July 09, 2007 4:43 PM

Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.

re: Week 21: Banana

How on earth is the week 21 Banana BIGGER than the week 20 cantaloupe????  Could we maybe have comparisons that make sense?

Posted by Roomtobloom    Tuesday, October 16, 2007 12:29 PM

re: Week 21: Banana

It goes by LENGTH! not the "roundness." So in fact, a banana is Larger than a Cantaloupe.

re: Week 21: Banana

Have we suddenly changed from head to rump length measurements, to head to foot?  According to this, it has gone from 16.4cm to 26.7cm in one week!

Posted by Chazza    Tuesday, October 30, 2007 3:23 PM

re: Week 21: Banana

yes, after week 20 its head to toe instead of head to rump.

I'm loving cheese too, but then I always have.  My partner brought back a kilo of good Dutch cheese from his trip to Holland last week, so I'm happy!  Also French onion soup...mmm...

that's hysterical, i'm totally loving cheese and french onion soup right now too...my husband is convinced that i shouldn't be eating any cheese b/c of the non-pasteurized thing (seriously, how much cheese isn't pasteurized?)  but he'll have to take a look at this page!

re: Week 21: Banana

i've been craving cheese too! but stay away from soft cheeses especially imports because many are unpasteurized, and the reason for concern is the bacteria you may be exposing your baby to. not worth the risk for sure! but cheddar etc are totally fine.

You are not the only one, I do not crave cheese either. I do think that is funny because I am a cheese lover, but I am not having any particular cravings right now. I am finding that things I liked/loved before I got pregnant is not doing a lot for my appetite right now. My appetite is really weird at this time.

Banana is actually one of the few things I have not been able to tolerate, I think I threw up one too many back around week 9. I am loving the cheese, we just keep a big block of cheddar around and I cut off big chunks to eat. We find out the sex in two days!

I defintely identify with your appetite  being influenced by TV. Wendy's and Pizza Hut have gotten A LOT of money out of me due to all the commercials they show during shows that I watch. No major cravings for cheese by itself but lots of cravings for Mac n' Cheese.

Fruit, fruit and more fruit. And blueberry waffles. And definitely the cheese. I'm having a huge aversion to meat though! EXCEPT for the Spicy Chicken Sandwich at Wendy's. I crave that one constantly. Weird huh?

for me it's salt, salt and more salt. Potato chips with helova good onion or bodacious onion dip, olives, pickles, chocolate covered pretzels. the more salt the better. I am not really into dessert unless it has salt. We bought these kosher salt and dark chocolate covered almonds from Trader Joe's and I can't get enough of them. Last night baby kicked and kicked: trying to say stop crushing my legs Mom!! Sleep on your side!! Love the little kicks!

re: Week 21: Banana

Well my baby boy is bigger than the average size.  My ultrasound a couple weeks ago at 19 weeks, his measurments were the size of an average 22 week old baby.  The doctor said at this point you can always give or take a couple weeks because the rate they grow varies.  My husband was a big baby (over 9 lbs) so hopefully the doctor was right if not, we will just have a big boy!

Grapes & cereal are high on the list too. I really love the thai crunch salad from CPK, so darn good! Chicken and turkey make me gag also. Actually, the only "meat" that I can eat without feeling sick right now is seafood. I love steak cooked rare/med-rare, but of course I can't have that right now. Well done meat doesn't do it for me. I really haven't had a single craving this whole pregnancy, but I as well am a cheese and fruit nut. 19 more weeks girls!! Woo hoo, YAY!! re: Week 21: Banana

l just realized that I have been eating a lot of cheese as well. My cravings has been cheese, ketchup, and sour and dill chips. But I definitely can't function if I don't have cheese at least 3 times a day.

re: Week 21: Banana

Aww, my little guy's a banana - LOL!  I've been craving fruit like crazy through my whole pregnancy  and still am (any kind is good, but apples, strawberries, and watermelon are the best) but I'm now drinking milk like my life depends on it - usually straight out of the carton!  Actually anything dairy is good - especially ice cream sandwiches and cheddar cheese curds - YUM (but not together - lol)!  I have to hide the cheese curds so my hubby doesn't eat them all first though!

Anything from a cow! Milk, cheese and red meat - and I was never a big red meat eater before. the joke is now that if I come across cow I am likely to whip out a knife and fork....

re: Week 21: Banana

I am craving guacamole with this one.  Go figure!  I craved peanut butter with my first.  I had, what everyone thought was a life's supply of Reeses peanut butter cups with me at all times!  Oh and we can forget about my craving for sno cones.  Not just any flavor.. Blue coconut only! hehe

No cheese cravings for me this time.  Just Guac & sweet treats.

This last week was the first time i felt the baby move. Such a weird feeling and hard to explain. I explained it to my mom as though baby was playing the piano on the inside of my stomach! So delighted to be feeling that she's in there and doing well!!

re: Week 21: Banana

21 weeks! This is my 3rd and I still can't believe how fast this is going by. We had an ultrasound 2 1/2 weeks ago and our little one would not let us see if we're having a boy or girl. No matter, either way we are excited and can not wait to hold our precious little gift.

re: Week 21: Banana

no craving for cheese at all. I used to love it, but now I never want it. My husband has increased his cheese intake, though. :) The one thing I always crave is McDonald's egg mcmuffins. My question is, "how is a baby that big fitting inside of me?" I can still wear pre-pregnancy jeans although the maternity jeans are much comfier now.

re: Week 21: Banana

I have been craving fruit like crazy!  Specifically, pineapple, melon, and pink grapefruit but, in a pinch, any fruit will do.  I have also been eating a lot of dairy, 2% milk, cheese, yogurt.  The baaaad craving I have is Taco Bell's Cheesy Gordita Crunch.  I have induldged a couple of times but I am really trying to be healthier since my little boy is starting to taste stuff now.  I don't want his to come out a fast food junkie!

re: Week 21: Banana

Like everyone else I am a massive cheese lover and cant seem to get enough. Funny our babies are bananas because I have been eating at least 1 banana a day oooh and christmas oranges. With Christmas baking though I fear my child is going to come out a little dough boy or girl!

re: Week 21: Banana

Well I guess my little girls is going to come out with pretty eclectic tastes. I have craved chips and guacamole and my mother-in-laws sweet and sour meatballs with kielbasa(made with grape jelly and chili sauce). And all I want to wash it down with is Gatorade. Cant be the healthiest things but I feel sick when I eat much else.
