Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

Posted Monday, July 09, 2007 4:59 PM

Watch what you say -- baby is now able to hear outside noise from down in the womb. Studies show that baby finds gentle music and your own voice most soothing. Nipples are starting to sprout, and that little face is fully formed. And, baby's starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop

22 weeks is supposed to be 6 months not 5

karukaru - breakdowns of months and weeks differ from source to source as it clearly says on the website above.  it does not mean that the nest or their source is incorrect.

I'm just starting to show, but it really depends on what I wear.  I can definately hide it if I want (but I don't want!)  My little bugger moves an awful lot too!

Once the Dr. told me that my uterus was all in front & just below my belly button, and that everything above was my guts, I realized that a lot of the bubbles I attributed to gas were actually my little boy! Just starting to show, and my belly's getting a lot firmer!

P.S. I feel movement the most after I eat, right when I wake up, and right before bed - best with my hand on my belly.

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

I feel baby most laying down, and while I did feel him quite early, he's only now getting strong enough for others to feel.  I'm only showing in certain clothes, so while it's really noticable to me, it's not entirely to other people.

Man, you all are making me feel HUGE!  I am 5' tall, and my belly is so big, everyone keeps asking if I'm having multiples!  I look like some people at 6 or 7 months.  There's definitely no hiding this baby! (not that I mind...)  I guess being so short, I had no where for his to be but outward!

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

My baby is doing riverdancing down there!  At time, I feel no movement  and played some music... the baby woke up and was active.  So that was when I knew Baby was doing good :)  My husband felt baby move and kicked on occasion and heard movements.  The baby would calm down when Daddy talks then starts to be active when he wasn't!  It was sooo funny!

My baby is just really starting to play soccer in my belly. I just started to feel it like 2-3 weeks ago but it keeps getting stronger hopefully soon she can kick  her daddy :) I started to show around my 4-5 month, but it really depends on what I wear to really be able to tell. But I actually like the fact that people know I am pregnant and not just gaining weight for no reason at all.. :)

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

Man, my lil Jakob is really active too. The last two days he was kicking the crap out of me. One minute, I get a kick down low, and then the next he will kick me up high.  I only really started feeling him kicking about a week ago but he has gotten active fast. My hubby felt him the other day. He was so happy.

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

I just turned 21 wks and I do not feel a lot of movement yet. I think I feel some flutters or bubbles below my belly button. At first I was not sure if it was the baby moving or not but I have been feeling it a little more, so I guess that's the baby moving. I can not feel or see any movement on the outside of my belly yet. Since my movements are not real clear yet I was starting to worry but reading some of these posts and other listings, I think it's okay. I did see the baby move on the u/s a few weeks ago I just didn't feel it.

I've been able to feel the baby move for a few weeks now and she's getting alot stronger. My husband felt her move about a week ago. She was extremly active for about 2 weeks then these last few days she's really calmed down I still feel her move but not as much so it really makes me wonder if there is something wrong.

I had no idea that papayas were that big!  I feel baby moving ALL the time.  I get kicked and poked everywhere!  I'm still getting a good nights sleep right now, so I hope this means that his sleep cycle will mesh with mine once he's born.

I wasn't feeling anything either, so at my last appointment my dr looked during my ultra sound and it turns out I have a "thick" placenta that is inbetween the baby and I.  I am 22 weeks and just starting to feel the flutters.

I'm 22 weeks and have been feeling my little one for a long time now. turns out my placenta is on the back side of my uterus. He's packing quite a punch now and my husband has even gotten to see him move. I'm showing, but to me it still just looks like chub,(tho I was never very chubby) from the front my tummy looks like a round Vee,coming to a point at my belly button  and from the side it  looks like my tummy is pouting. ;) LOL

Well I am definitely showing - but I am or should I say was 5'5" and 134 lbs - so nowhere really to hide the bump...lol...not that I mind too much.  I am just worried about getting too big.  Anyway, our lil girl is very active in the morning when I am getting ready to walk our Chi...and she is very active when I am hungry and when I am eating...lol...oh and anytime my Chi sits in my lap she kicks him...hmm already a love/hate relationship going on there...

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

i'm 22 weeks 4 days today, and this little munchkin takes great pleasure out of kicking me in the most painful places at the most inopportune times! So far the favorite seems to be during long car rides, around 20 minutes past the last rest stop, and right on top of my bladder!  a couple of days ago my hubby spent half an hour just holding my belly to feel our little one playing!

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

I am 24 weeks now with my first, but I have been able to feel my baby kick since 18 weeks. Maybe thats because I am carrying her mostly inside or maybe she's just big. Who knows? But I don't think she sleeps that much, she is always active! She is still in breech position so she kicks my cervix a lot, which can be very uncomfortable (especially during church) and painful.

I am 22 weeks and I actually felt my little guy moving around 16 weeks but that is really early for a first pregnancy. I am showing for sure, looks like a basketball and people definately notice. I think it is so fun. He kicks me all the time but mostly first thing in the morning, after meals and at night while I am in bed. My hubby felt it for the first time this week which we have been waiting for forever. We had a u/s Tuesday and the tech did some 3-D for us which was really nice. It was so cool to see his face but not much fat on it. We have the cutest profile pic of him and you can really see his little button nose and sweet little lips. Adorable!!

my lil one is moving like crazy. I definitly feel him but he's still not quite strong enough for other people to. im 22 wks so im not entirley sure if its normal but hes getting there so eventually other people will be feeling his kicks and then theyll probably have an even bigger obsession with touching the belly. is it just me or does that drive any one else insane too?

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

I'm 22 weeks with my first pregnancy and I have been able to feel our Bailey's little flutters since I was about 14 weeks... I didn't understand at that time that that's what it was, but they have become progressively stronger over time. It's the same feelings of flips and twists and punches, just much harder. And right in the bladder! It sends me running to the bathroom sometimes! I feel it most right when I lay down at night, or when I am sitting down while leaning forward.. I can even see her movements on the outside of my stomach! But my husband is having a hard time feeling or even seeing it... I don't understand! It's like she calms down as soon as he comes over to feel. He's getting discouraged... poor dad.

HOW ARE YOU LADIES SLEEPING...?? I usually sleep on my stomach and of course now that cant be the case. I asked my doctor about sleeping on my back instead and she said that my side is the best way to sleep. Needless to say, After going through 3 pillows for comfort last night, I got NO SLEEP! I am so sleepy right now! (24 weeks today)

KSchickling0707  It took my husband a while to feel the baby kick too..the same thing happened to him, every time he would come over, the baby would stop! I had to keep telling him to be patient and just sit there for a while with his hand on my belly, finally he was able to feel the kicking and he thought it was the greatest thing ever! And I can definitely relate to the kicking in the bladder! Its such a weird feeling!

I'm 22 weeks today and I've been feeling the baby really well for about 2 weeks. Before that I wasn't sure, but a friend described her first baby feelings are little muscle spasms and that's exactly what mine felt like! I knew I was feeling the baby for sure. The baby and I are definately on different sleep schedules at this point. She/He loves the night time! And I got a word of advice from another friend... if you haven't felt the baby move in a while and you're getting worried drink a glass of really cold water. It wakes my baby up and gets it kickin every time!

And I've been feeling movements for a few weeks but yesterday I got very aggravated and stressed at work and within 5 minutes baby Conner was just going nuts! He was kicking and moving for about 45 minutes. I guess he doesn't like it when I'm upset!

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

This is my third kiddo (y'all pray its a girl!), and I was able to feel pressure at 16 weeks. I'm having slight braxton hicks (I'm 21 weeks today). My hubby got kicked by "squirt" in the ribs the other night while snuggling with me. Squirt seems to be most active in the evening and when I'm resting. Sleep and being able to catch my breath aren't in the cards for now. Forget walking while pushing a stroller with a two year old. I'll be lazy for now LOL.

I've been feeling "sensations" since about 18 weeks, but haven't really felt actual movement until about 21 weeks, and am now 22, but still not feeling it all the time, and not really any kicking. I am definitely showing, but not too much, guess cause I'm tall. Anyone feeling like this is such a reality now and is getting a little overwhelmed?

All I know is this little Papaya sure acts like she is at Gymboree or something...flips punchs kicks.. I'm so proud she's active!! Just not really thrilled that I'm the opposite of anyone I have spoken to -- first starting to get nausea now in week 22... nothing in trimester 1

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

My girl is kicking all the time.  I think there are a alot of factors such as if it's your first baby, your size before you got pregnant, andpossibly the size of the baby that determine when and how often you fele the baby kick.  Don't worry - I thought I wasn't feeling her much at all a week or 2 ago - now she's on the move constantly!  I'm showing quite a bit now, but I was tiny to begin with, so I'm all baby.  Anyway, I'm enjoying every minute of my first pregnancy!  As eager as we are to meet her, I know it will be here before we know it =)

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

Papaya!  I love papayas.....It's a wonderful feeling to have my little girl kicking in my tummy.  Most of the time they are small kicks but some times she goes all martial arts and my DH can see it and feel the kicks.  And that's awesome because he feels a little left out of the excitement sometimes and this helps him be a part of it a little more.  I agree with you....she'll be here before we know it!  So many things to do! : )

I usually feel my "Itsy" moving when I'm talking with a client at work (she's already demanding all my attention)!  I am 22 weeks and I have been feeling flutters since about 18-19 weeks, but now I'm feeling full fledged kicks and punches, which I love.  Hubby hasn't been able to feel them yet, but can't wait for that step!

My little guy is always moving around and letting me know that he is there.  It seems like he already knows his name because when ever someone says his name he starts to kick me.  Last night my BF and I were watching TV and I had the remote on my stomach and my little Alexander kicked the remote off of my stomach...it was the funniest thing he has done yet!

We found out last week that we are having a boy, but people have been telling me that for weeks.  There is not doubt that I am pregnant to anyone that takes a look at my belly.  From the back, though, you would never know.  I know another woman that is a few weeks behind me, and I would never guess that she is pregnant.  It's funny how everyone is so different.  I've been feeling movement since around 14 weeks, and my husband finally felt his first kick this week.  According to the doctor, my little boy is already one pound!

Saw a little foot stick out of my tummy the other day. My dh saw it too. It was just the cutes oblong shape pushing as hard as it could! I can't wait to see it again!  I am really showing. Also, ckwas26, i have been getting nightly leg cramps. They aren't terrible, but just stretching my calves out seems to help me get back to sleep.

Hoping it stays that way but we'll see, it's not up to me after all.  Daddy feels him move too. Doesn't seem like my little one sleeps for 12 hours.  Very active every five or so hours.  I don't mind, I love it!  My husband is able to feel the baby kick now too, and it is so great to share that with him!

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

My lil man DEFINITELY doesn't sleep 12 hours a day... I can get a good 4 hours and then he is flipping and kicking... He was 11cm as of 20 wks so I'm definitely wondering how big he is now... He only calms down when I eat... LOL

Talk about a hungry little guy... Can't wait until he gets here!!!

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

My little papaya is very active as well. Likes to torture me by way of my bladder, I have to urinate every hour or so. Still can not believe how fast this is going by, Only 4 more months to go. On one hand I can't wait to hold him/her, on the other I feel like I haven't been pregnant long enough to be looking forward to that day.

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

Papaya?

I've never had a papaya; let alone seen one so no judgement on that. Haha.

I'm 22 weeks; almost 23. :) I felt my baby girl kick during week 20 and it was soo amazing..my fiance just felt her kick a few days ago..everytime I would tell him she's kicking he would rush over & put his hand on my belly to feel but she would stop. She would even stop kicking if she heard his voice! I felt so bad for him..but then he finally kept his hand there for a bit and felt her! We were so excited. :) plus my belly is growing pretty quickly these days. :D but u can only tell with certain clothes.

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

P.S

I've heard many stories on active/non-active babies.

Apparently active babies don't sleep much and non-active babies sleep all the time!

If this is true; I'm screwed! Lol..

Has anyone with children discovered this??

My little girl is my first baby so I guess I'll find out! Wish me luck!

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

I have felt flutters for weeks and just now felt full-fledged kicks/punches.  We were first told it was a boy...now turns out to be a girl.

Also found out I have Placenta Previa.  I am still holding out for natural childbirth.  Fingers crossed that everything shifts.  Started bleeding a little as well.  I'm not one for bed rest!

I'm at 22 weeks and feel huge!  Our little boy has been moving for weeks and the strong kicks have been going on since about 20 weeks.  The weirdest feeling is when he turns though . . . that has to be what's happening when my tummy gets tight and feels like it's twisting.  It's very strange.  This experience is AMAZING!

I'm turning 22 weeks tomorrow and I could feel the flutters since week 17, but now it is def strong! Last night my husband and I were cracking up b/c we could see my stomach moving where he was kicking(we're having a little boy!--our first). He is def very active after meals, when I lie on my left or right side, and around 4am!

Im 22 weeks today and I don't know about the sleeping for 12-14 hours a day. Im having  a boy and I got  my ultrasound done on 1-4 and I swear he knew we were watching. The tech had to follow him to take the pics :) he opened and closed his mouth, moved his hand from his side to his head and back, stretched his legs, i mean just all around busy. He never sleeps!!

I am definitely showing now. Going back to work (at a school) after the holiday break I got a lot of "wow" comments about this belly that came out of nowhere. It's my 2nd baby & I'm 5'2" so maybe it has something to do with that...oh and my tummy wasn't "flat" to begin with! Haha!

karukaru Honey, Each month is 4 weeks long, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, and so on. That's 5 Which means 5 months. I'm only 16 and even I know that.

Nice to know that my little girl is the size of a papaya, ha ha.

I'm 23 weeks and my baby moves like crazy at certain times of the it's just flutters but can deffiantely tell her sleep wake patterns. Everyone saying about their hubby's being able to feel the baby move really makes me miss the fact that he's not here right now. Hopefully the military will have him home on leave soon enough that he can feel her a couple times before she's born. Don't know if that'll happen though biggest thing is that they better have him home for the baby's birth or i might flying to afghanistan to kidnap him ...LOL.

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

To ahirschmann: I am 22w 1d and unless I wear something very tight, you definitley can't tell I'm pregnant.  Women carry differently and at 5'6" and broad, I just look like I've gained a few pounds.  I'm carrying all in front, but my sister was the same way and really didn't start showing until almost six months.  It just depends on the person.

I started feeling our little boy (our first!) at around 16 1/2 weeks.  My DH was able to see his kicks and feel them for the first time the other night.  He already has a pretty steady routine of waking and sleeping....let's hope he keeps it up!

re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

In my first pregnancy I started showing @ 3 mos, but was told that it was due to having previous surgery on the cervix, so of course with my current, 2nd, pregnancy I have been showing for a couple of months. With my 1st pregnancy I felt her move @ 18 weeks. This time, I felt her @ 11, but the movement is definitely stronger now! I was huge with my 1st pregnancy, gaining 59lbs & swelling due to mild preeclampsia. The "haven't you had that baby yet?" comments got really annoying : / Have a feeling that this time isn't going to be much better considering I saw an old friend last month & he thought I was about to pop & I wasn't even up the 9 lbs that I am now! I loved the banana comparison; I called her my chiquita!

I'm 21 weeks, and still not showing as much as I thought I would, but I was 95 lbs before pregnancy (4' 10" people, not anorexic lol ) and I started feeling my precious Maddie kick at about 17 weeks! That's when we found out it was a GIRL! But my tummy is getting very tight, and I can tell when she moves, sleeps, etc. She doesn't sleep 12+ hours, tho, but she does get a good bit of sleep! And I've gained 8 lbs so far! That's a big accomplishment for me cause my whole family is little bitty lol So all you mommies out there that think something is wrong cause they're not showing a lot, I hope this helped you!! :)

@pomgrnt I'm 5' tall too, I think shorter people may show earlier since we have less torso to spare ;-) My little girl moves all the time, I'm not sure she's sleeping at all! She is getting so strong, sometimes it feels like a circus in there. re: Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

I am very excited by all of this.  This is my third child...the last child I had was in 1995!!!!! SOO it's like starting all over.  My husband and I are very excited.  This baby (we will be surprised at birth to find out the sex) seems to move the entire day that I am at work and then the MOMENT I lay down to try and sleep at night.  Since I accidently flip onto my tummy during the night while sleeping, the baby also jabs me sharply to wake me up and change positions.  This is incredible.  Oh and my little papaya won't move for daddy's touch either only for his voice.

DH and I found out today that our little one is a BOY! I am only 20 weeks 5 days, and the baby is already measuring 21 weeks 1 day and 14 ounces, so the size of a Papaya... totally skipped over Banana! We are so excited, and I have started to feel the little man squirm and move quite often in the past week, but no real kicks for me or daddy to feel yet! Soon we hope!
