Q: Circumcision stats and studies?

Q: DH and I are trying to decide whether to circumcise our son when he arrives. I know people have lots of views on this, but what do the actual studies say?

A: Great question. It's nice to hear all the opinions, but reading up on the facts will help you make a truly informed decision. We've rounded up the most relevant recent studies and listed them below, along with links to the findings. Good luck!

re: Q: Circumcision Stats and Studies?

It's important to know that the chance of your son getting a UTI or penile cancer is ridiculously rare and the only way to prevent AIDS is to use a condom. I'm skeptical of the studies offered here, because the answerer has obviously already made up his/her mind about what you should do (suggesting circumcision styles and cares?! She hasn't even decided to do it!). My opinion: don't do it. If your son feels like it's a problem when he's 18, he can have it done. I was circumcised 25 years ago for no reason and I will never forgive my parents or the doctors.

No medical organization in the world recommends routine infant circumcision. If your son wants to be circumcised at 18, he can. It's his body, his choice.
