Sticky baby

I got a positive pregnancy test at home today! My husband and I were on month one of trying to conceive our 3rd child. I didn’t expect to fall pregnant so fast, but I was absolutely thrilled. When he came home from work, I had the pregnancy test in my back pocket. We have family portraits by our front door, and I told him we’d need to get new family pictures done soon. He asked why the one we had done last year wasn’t good enough, so I whipped out my pregnancy test and gave it to him. He stared at it for a whole minute before he realized what it was! Being our 3rd child, it was funny to me he had to figure out how to read it. We decided before we started trying for another baby that we would wait until after the 3 month mark to tell people because of my history of miscarriages. Fingers crossed this one sticks.
In love already!

Today was my first baby appointment and I had an ultrasound. When I heard that strong little heartbeat going, I got tears in my eyes. I’m 12 weeks today, and I am so grateful to hear the sound that for now, means I have a healthy baby in there. I’m in love already! Now I need to scan a picture of the ultrasound photo to send to my husband, who is away for a few months on a ship. I can’t wait until he’s home.

The big news...

Today was my 20 week ultrasound. Okay, I’ll admit it. My husband and I had really wanted another boy- we even already had a great name chosen, Asa William. But as soon as the technician had me lay down and started doing measurements, I immediately saw the three tellale lines of a girl. I felt a lump in my throat. I ‘felt’ like I had a boy in there. Shocked is an understatement. I have one TWO girls now… whoa.

Baby shower!

Today was my baby shower! Two ladies at my church hosted it for me, and it was great. I didn’t expect a shower at all, being that I have 2 children already and almost everything I need. Even so, they were thrilled for our new family member and we felt so loved- they even got a few gifts for my other two children! I’ve been having contractions for 4 days now, so I think things will be moving along soon. I’ve been to labor and delivery twice now already and I’m 4cm, but the contractions aren’t strong enough yet.

Feb. 1st
Okay, I’ve been having contractions for almost 3 weeks now. This is really getting old. They’ve been timable (every 5 min) and I have to pause through them, but last time I went to the labor and delivery ward to get checked they made it very clear they didn’t want me coming in until I was in such pain I couldn’t walk. Hope this doesn’t last much longer.

Welcome, Adena Marie!

I started the day with my normal contractions. I thought nothing of them, and me and the family went to the commissary for groceries. As soon as we step inside my contractions increased- I had to bend over on the cart and stop walking because of the intensity. It took us over an hour to get through the whole store, but I refused to gather up all that food and then abandon it when this could be just another false alarm. When we got home, they intensified and were coming about every 2 minutes. We rushed to the hospital, and when we got checked in I was so calm during contractions the anesthesiologist thought I was sleeping! I was in the room for less than 20 minutes when I screamed for the doctor to come in. Adena Marie was out in 30 seconds. I finally got my med-free birth experience, and I felt wonderful.

Way to go on such an awesome labor!  Short and sweet.  That is the best kind.  What a beautiful picture of your daughter kissing your belly.  I love prego shots.  :)

Love the pics. I have also had 2 med-free deliveries and, while I don't know what  it's like to use the meds, I certainly think that med-free is the way to go if you can manage it. The recovery time is so much faster and being able to relate to your body in such a way is amazing, I knew with both my girls exactly when to push....with this last delivery the doctor was not even in the room when my daughter was born, she came quickly and easily. Congratulations on your new little girl. They are both adorable.
