Q: If I am getting my period 28-30 days since being off birth control, can I assumed I am ovulating regularly?
Dr. Joseph Hill:
Generally, if your menstrual cycles are regular, they are presumably
ovulatory. But, it is not absolutely conclusive, as subtle
abnormalities can occur within cycles. Over-the-country testing with
ovulation predictor kits can be use to verify that the LH (lutenizing
hormone) surge signaling ovulation has occurred. If in doubt, consult a
specialist. (Look for one certified in reproductive endocrinology and
infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.)
