Welcome to The Bump Community! We hope that these technical FAQ's can help you get set up here on The Bump so that you can find a board and join the discussion. (A special thanks to Bump user Ambsies for inspiring us with her own ingenious Bump technical FAQ.)
Questions about posting
1. How to make a poll
Click "Write a new post" and enter your subject line. Next, click the "Poll" tab (above the subject line). See below:
Enter your "Poll Question" and use "Add Answers" to create poll options. Finally, click "Post."
2. How to include a picture in a post
To
add a photo, you can either use the "photo" icon (the colorful picture
of a tree) or the "HTML" icon on the toolbar of your post.

If
you use the "photo" icon, you can copy and paste the URL of the image into the top line that says "Image URL." You can then edit the
dimensions (640x480 are ideal dimensions for a photo (if a picture is
too big, it won't fit in the post).
If you use the "HTML" logo, a
new window will pop-up. Paste the "html code" from for your image into
this area and then click "update." The picture should now appear in
your message. Press "Post," and voila!
3. How to make a click-able link in your post
Click on the icon that looks like a chain and a link.
A
pop-up box will appear. Under "Link URL," copy and paste the link that
you would like the page to redirect to. The second line is personal
preference; you can either choose to open the link in a new window, or
open the link the current window. Finally, in "Title," write what you
want the click-able link to say. For example, these blue words.
How to edit your avatar and signature:
This is one of the most frequently asked technical questions.
1. Click on "My Bump" on the upper left-hand side of the page.
2. Click "Edit my Avatar & Sig."
3. To edit your Avatar, click "upload images" (the second tab). You can then add an image from your computer. You can also use one of The Bump's images by clicking the third tab, "Choose one of our designs."
If you are only interested in adding text to your signature, you can enter it in the text box that appears below. Click "Save My Signature" when you are finished. You're done! (Easy, right?)

To view your signature, go back to one of your previous posts (you can
do this by clicking "My Posts" on your Bump Bio page). Your signature
will now appear at the bottom. If you want to keep updating your
signature until it's perfect, you can preview it simply by refreshing
the page of one of your posts.
4. If you would like to add a ticker, badge, or click-able link, keep reading:
4a. To add a click-able link in your signature, use this as an example (photo courtesy of Ambsies):

Copy your new hyperlink code. Click on "My Bump" in the top left-hand corner. Then, click "Edit my Avatar." Paste your link code into the box below where it says "Signature." Click "Save Changes"
4b. To add a ticker or badge to your signature,
Check our our tickers and our badges for TTC, pregnancy, and baby. Click through all of the steps. At the end, copy the HTML that is provided. You can then paste this code into "Forums Signature."

Voila! If you selected a ticker, it will now update on its own.
**To have your signature items (tickers, pics, text) on separate
lines, add a < br > (without the spaces) in between the different
item's codes.
For example:

Miscellaneous
1. Private Messages
To view and send private messages, click "My Bump." Then, click "Inbox" on the mid-right side of the page.

From there, you can view your new messages. If you want to send someone a private message, you can also click "Contact" at the bottom of a user's post. Then, click "Send [user's name] a private message."
2. Profile settings
-- To update your shortcuts, click "Edit My Shortcuts" on the top of your My Bump bio page.
-- To update your profile preferences, click "Settings" (right next to "Inbox").
-- To view your recent posts, click "Message Boards" (on the same menu as My Bump, Friends, Photos, Blog, and Milestones).
-- To report a post that you find offensive, click "Report" beneath the post. You can also click "Block" to prevent you and that user from having further contact on the boards.
