re: Q & A Index

I have an odd question that I havent seen anything similiar to on the Q&A index. Right now I'm stay at home and 12 wks pregnant. I cant seem to get the motivation together to keep everything neat and organized in the house like I did before. Because of this I feel like I'm going to be an inadequate mom. I mean if I cant even keep my house clean while being pregnant how am I going to be able to take good care of the baby?

Q: Mom and mother-in-law visit

Come springtime when  I give birth not only will my mom be visiting to help me and DH with our new baby(we're 1st time parents) but at the same time so will my mother-in-law.  Both are strong willed women and I'm not only worried that I won't get a word in edgewise when it comes to what I want to do with my baby, but I'm worried that their personalities will clash and there will be a big fight.  My DH's grandmother(m-i-l's mom) will also be there and I know that she will be some help, but what if it isn't?  Should I also have my mom's mom come?  If something blows up how should I handle it?

re: Q & A Index

I had the same fear in the first trimester. I had hyperemesis, spend 4 days in the hospital and three weeks on bedrest and I couldn't organize my coupon book much less my house. After week 20 things started getting ALOT better and now that nesting thing has kicked in. I can't seem to clean enough! My semester doesn't start until next week and instead of writing papers I have this unfightable desire to scrub my house instead! I think once you're out of the first trimester you'll feel better.

re: WildesSpirit86

The best way to know whether or not you are pregant is to see a real doctor. The store bought tests do work, but not all the time. And even if you aren't pregnant, there maybe changes happening in your hormonal system, that are causing the symptoms. Pregnant or not you must to find out asap!

Wanting a Child

I am just wondering.  I am 21, almost 22 years old.  my husband is 23.  we have it planned to start trying for children in about 1 1/2-2 years from now.  Well my problem is that for the last 4-5 months, I have REALLY been wanting to get pregnant.  I am terrified of the idea.  I KNOW i'm considered 'to young still', and we are not financially ready, (then again who ever is) and I dont think my husband is ready for kids either but I cannot make this drive to want to have a child go away.  Any suggestions on what could be causing this or tips on how to make it go away?  Thanks, Angela

Has anyone Concieved while taking Clomid? Did they have twins?

I am starting Clomid in a week and I was just wondering what other peoples experiences were. I am the youngest of all my friends who is having kids, but they all conceived naturally.

Q & A

My expected due date is 03/23/08, which mean that my conception date is somewhere around 06/30/08. This is weird because the last time I had sexual intercourse was on 06/02/08. Although, I had sexual intercourse that day, I received a period. And I was wondering, could my last "period" actually been vaginal bleeding, and that's what is throwing my due date off.

re: Q & A Index

I am really hoping to get some closure on this. My son was born almost exactly 4 years ago, after many hours of unsucessful pushing I opted for an epidural. I do know that it took them 2-3 tries to get it right. Now 4 years later my lower back/upper butt reigon is still numb. I was told it would eventually go away...but 4 years & still nothing? Is this still considered normal? Is there anything I can do? (heat pack & ice do nothing)

Q & A Index

I am 7 weeks pregnant and have my first cold.  I have sneezing, coughing, and a very runny nose.  I am miserable. Is there anything that I am able to take to feel better????

Posted by dharma82    Monday, December 01, 2008 10:37 AM

re: Q & A Index

Dharma82- Talk to your Dr first. But they will most likely tell you the same thing I was told...no meds. I was able to use a saline nose spray to help clear my nose and drink non-caff tea (nothing too herbal). Lots of rest and being propped up in bed also helped. I've survived three colds and I'm 33 weeks now.....good luck!

Nail polish and cosmetic woes

What's the final word on the safety of using nail polish and cosmetics?  Thanks!

Posted by JuneBrideJen636    Friday, January 16, 2009 7:30 PM

re: Q & A Index

why wouldnt you be allowed to use nail polish? unless your eating it there would never be anything wrong with it......

and dharma-any cold meds are fine, just read the back, if it says do not take while pregnant-then obviously dont take....you can sitll take panadol all through your pregnancy. msot medications are safe

re: Q & A Index

I have a question, I used to have a belly button ring but it has been closed for at least 5 years or so. I am not 20 weeks pregnant and today that area hurts when I touch it or if I lean against something that pushes on it. I figured it was just scar tissue stretching from my growing belly but I was just wondering if anyone has had the same problem.

re: Q & A Index - Book Recs

I am interested in any books that others found helpful to familiarize themselves with pregnancy - such as do's and don'ts, what to expect, etc.  Is "What to Expect When You are Pregnant?" good or just popular? TIA!

re: week 12 or 13

Im 12 weeks and 5 days, but your website tells me I am 13.  Due date is 9/30/09.  Today is 3/23/09.  There may be something wrong with the system?

Wanting a baby

I'm 26 years old my husband is 32, we've been together for almost 8 years now and we are coming up on our 1st year of marriage. I've always wanted to be a mother my husband however wasn't to trilled about the idea after 6 years of dating he came around and promised me that we would have a baby after we get married. Now, everyone around me is either pregnant or has had a baby and for some reason I've been really itching for a baby. This is all I think about now and when I talk to my husband about it he blows me off. =( I'm sad and I don't know how to tell him that I want to start our family. I know he's scared to have a baby and this is the reason why he always says that he's not ready, but how can I get him ready? I know a mother becomes a mother as soon as she knows she's pregnant and that a father becomes a father as soon as he holds the baby for the first time, but how can get him not to be scared of the idea of a baby?

Posted by Ani & Juan    Thursday, March 26, 2009 2:38 PM

playing an instrument

I play the tuba in the church orchestra so it is on a regular basis.  I was wondering the appropriate time to stop playing.  I am 14 weeks pregnant.  What should I be lifting (weight wise) at this time as well?

Posted by phxdcc    Monday, April 20, 2009 12:57 PM

re: Q & A Index - Wanting a Baby Ani & Juan

I dont mean to be discouraging or overly direct, but of all the men I  know -- the ones who werent ready to have a baby, really never became ready.  They only became fathers if their girlfriends/wives just "accidentally" became pregnant.  I dont think that (or not being able to talk to your spouse about important things like having a baby) are good foundations for a long and happy marriage.   So I would start with fixing the communication problem -- tell him how you feel.  If you are afraid to for any reason, then there is a MUCH bigger problem than getting pregnant.  Just my two cents.

re: Q & A Index

Do experienced moms recommend washing baby clothes in Dreft  (or another dye and perfume free detergent) or is regular Tide okay to use?

PArvo Virus

I work in a school and a student has fifth's disease. I do not have antibodies based on my doctor's screening. I am scared about catching it. I am 14 weeks pregnant with twins. Luckily I don't work with this student but she does work with the other speech therapist in my office. How scared should I be?

re: Q & A Index

So I have a question...I am 16 weeks prego and I went to the Dr last week and we got to hear the heartbeat (yay) but when we were listening to it she caught a heartbeat on the right side of my belly and said oh its 130-140 and then moved it to the left side and said oh now its 150-160. MY question is a) is it twins??? b)is it normal for the heartbeat to jump that high if its not?
