Now, with a deluge of baby showers, Baptisms, newborn baby meetings and housewarming parties for new and expecting families, I find myself shopping more and more for unique and memorable gifts that won't leave friends and family digging to the bottom of the bag for the gift receipt.
When my daughter was born, I received a ton of Dr. Brown's bottles, mattress pads and crib sheets from large stores and outlets and they were desperately needed. But the one item that I cherish is a Memory Box from a small Mom-owned and operated business in North Jersey. It was precisely this type of item that I wanted to find the upcoming Baptism of my best friend's son, Jackson.
I could have gone with the Memory Box but my friend had seen my Memory Box and I was on the hunt for a truly unique item. I discovered a local, Mom-owned business, Chesapeake Ribbons, and I immediately fell in love with the choices available to me. I chose the Lacrosse Infant Belt from Chesapeake Ribbons and Margie, the designer, was extremely helpful and better yet - I received the belt within days of ordering!
The details on the belt are exquisite and the quality is outstanding - the type that's rare to find nowadays at larger, more national stores that produce in mass quantity. I tried to get that perfect camera shot of my daughter in the belt to e-mail to my friend, Jackson's Mom, but, when I put my daughter into a Polo tennis dress and wrapped the Lacrosse belt around her waist two things occurred - she squiggled away from the camera and I decided that I'm definitely going to have to order the belt in a larger size for my little country club girl ;).
I definitely urge all Moms that seek a truly one-of-a-kind gift for those important babies in their lives to explore what Chesapeake Ribbons has to offer. From belts to barrettes to watches, bows and headbands, one local Mom can design the perfect keepsake for all infants and toddlers for a variety of occasions.
If you log on: Chesapeake Ribbons is located on the Web at http://www.chesapeakeribbons.com/
I suggest: Berry, Candy Stripe, Lacrosse or Navy Prep belts worn, for girls, with a tennis dress or, for boys, with light khaki shorts for the summer months.
