"This pregnancy has deepened our love for each other in many ways..."
Lucky strike
The most interesting thing about our story so far is actually how we got pregnant. We had been trying for several months when we decided to go on a cruise, since we needed some time away. The last night of the cruise we played “Bingo” and for the first time in both of our lives, we actually won! We won the big jackpot that day, and it turns out that we won even more than that. Two weeks after the cruise, on a quiet Sunday morning, I took a pregnancy test and we were thrilled to see not one, but TWO pink lines! We will consider the baby our “Bingo” baby because we’re pretty sure we conceived that same day.
The first few weeks of the pregnancy were uneventful and then around seven weeks I got a bad case of morning sickness. I will say this is the most shocking part of pregnancy yet. I didn’t realize it’s really 24/7 sickness for some people!
We first saw the baby at our seven week appointment and it was love at first sight. We knew from that day on that life would never be the same. It was so amazing to see a little heart beating inside of me! I think the day it really hit us that a “real” baby was going to be in our lives in just a few months was the day we set up the crib in the nursery. It was a cold winter night and we both said we will never forget just sitting in the nursery in awe that night.
How life has changed
This pregnancy has deepened our love for each other in many ways. We now have a greater appreciation for each other because we have both committed to the challenges and trials ahead of us that we know parenting will bring. We also talk and dream a lot more about what our baby will be like, whether he or she will like music, or dance, or the arts, like we did. The best part of the whole thing is that we know that our life together is just beginning, and that we’ll have a whole new story ahead of us!
