"He tears up all the time about our little 'cupcake.' He is so excited about having a baby..."
Unexpected surprise
My husband and I have been married just shy of two years, although we have been together for 11 years. We were not trying to get pregnant, but we were not preventing it either. We wanted to have a baby, but we also were kind of selfish in it being just us and our pets, who are our first babies. In January, I had a feeling I was pregnant because my period was late and it usually comes like clockwork. Although this happened to me before, somehow it felt different this time. I took a pregnancy test and it was positive! I have to be honest; I was shocked, scared and extremely nervous that first night after finding out. My husband was ecstatic and couldn’t stop smiling. It didn’t take long for the news to sink in and for me to feel connected to the life that was growing inside of me -- I was out the next day buying pregnancy books and looking at baby clothes!
Exactly what I needed...
Becoming pregnant has been one of the most profound events that have happened in my life and I would not change it for the world. Even through all the morning sickness, irritability and exhaustion, I love being pregnant and I cannot imagine the feelings I will have when my baby boy is born. I think I have become an overall happier person since I have become pregnant. Sometimes we lose sight of what really means the most to us and we need a little nudge from something unexpected to realize we have more than most people and life is truly wonderful.
My husband and I have become even closer in our relationship. Sometimes I think he is even more sentimental and sappy than I am with my pregnancy hormones. He tears up all the time about our little “cupcake”. He is so excited about having a baby. He is adopted and I know that being the best parent he can be is very important to him. He is going to be a wonderful father and I am lucky to have such a man in my life to travel this amazing journey with me.
