"I will never forget the journey it took for me to get to this
point and truly believe that the struggle and the pain has helped prepare me..."
Our baby journey
My husband Dan and I had very specific plans when it came to TTC. We planned to start the journey as soon as I finished my MBA and we did just that. Our journey started in June of 2007 and for awhile, the fun and excitement of TTC was an everyday discussion around our house. At the 6 month mark, I got nervous and at just around a year, we began some testing. After we completed the testing we got the news that all of our testing was normal and the doctor diagnosed us with Unexplained Infertility. That diagnosis was hard for us because it made us hesitate with any treatment. We kept thinking: “This will be the month, there isn’t any reason we shouldn’t be pregnant.”
After another 10 months, we made the decision to move forward with IUI and Clomid and had the procedure done on April 10. I remember leaving the doctor’s office and thinking that in two weeks, I could be pregnant -- and that is exactly what happened. I will never forget how breathtaking it was for me to see the two lines on my pregnancy test and the shock and excitement Dan and I felt when we learned we would be parents.
The excitement continues
Because I took Clomid, we got our first ultrasound at 7 weeks, 3 days. The ultrasound technician told us that it would take a few minutes to get her measurements, but after 10 minutes I started to get nervous. The nurse could sense my nervousness so she flashed me a smile... and TWO FINGERS! I immediately knew that meant TWINS but Dan didn’t catch on us quickly. It wasn’t until the ultrasound technician turned the screen towards us and showed us both babies that he understood. We both cried tears of happiness and I thanked God for blessing me in such an amazing way.
Making changes already
Since we found out that I am pregnant with twins, our life has completely changed. We talk constantly about the babies and how our lives will be once the twins get here. I know it won’t be easy, but I cant wait for us to become a family and to watch Dan grow into an amazing father. I will also never forget the journey it took for me to get to this point and I truly believe that the struggle and the pain has helped to prepare me for being a patient mother. There is no doubt that these babies will be loved!
