My Dallas Pregnancy

Dallas mom-to-be Holly Wittenberg shares the highs (wearing hot mama heels) and lows (pregnancy brain).

Q: How did you and your husband spread the word that you were expecting?
A:
I took my pregnancy test to the bathroom of the gym after working out with a girlfriend. I was so used to seeing "not pregnant" that I couldn't believe my eyes! I ran out of the stall to show my "trophy" off. Later, I shared the news with my husband. Once I started drinking water and Sprite, everyone else soon figured it out.

Q: What little indulgences or cravings did you give in to during pregnancy?
A:
The Chick-fil-A brownie! I also craved peanut butter and did with my last pregnancy too. But, all in all, I pretty much just ate normally.

Q: What about maternity clothes? Did you have fun shopping for them?
A:
I had so much fun! After trying for so long to get pregnant, I wanted to be the sexiest, happiest pregnant woman. You didn't catch me in sweats, I was in heels! I shopped at Pickles & Ice Cream, Japanese Weekend, and A Pea in the Pod.

Q: What were your favorite activities while pregnant?
A:
I really enjoyed shopping and eating. We have a million places to eat -- anything I could possibly crave is right nearby. Mi Cocina was one of my favorite places to satisfy my urge for chips and queso. And I loved that people are just overly friendly and helpful when you're pregnant. It comes in handy, especially because you lose your memory and get so flaky! Another great thing: our baby shower. We did a couples shower and there were more than 75 people. It definitely wasn't your normal baby shower.

Q: Your advice for other moms-to-be?
A:
It's so fun to pore through the pregnancy books, but try to read about what to expect after y our baby is born too. It's good to know about the basics, like their sleeping and eating patterns. Read up on it now so you know what the heck you're doing when the time comes! Have fun with decorating too. I had a blast doing both of m nurseries. I'm usually not into themes, but it's fun with nurseries. My final word of wisdom is to not buy into the idea that you have to eat for two. I think it's better to just eat healthy and not feel like you have license to binge. I was glad I only gained about 20 to 25 pounds.
