New York native Lara Metz shares the highs (plenty of prenatal massages) and lows (all t hose leg cramps) of her pregnancy.
Q: How did you and your husband spread the word that you were expecting?
A: This is the first grandbaby for both of our parents, so we wanted it to be special. Corey and I gave them gift bags with burp cloths that said, "I love Grandma" and "I love Grandpa." They still didn't get it right away! Once they did, they were beyond excited and were literally jumping up and down.
Q: What little indulgences or cravings did you give in to during your pregnancy?
A: We babymooned in the Caribbean, and I had the best prenatal massage at the resort. It felt great being away. I loved the massage so much that I continue getting them at Cornelia Day Resort.
Q: What about maternity clothes? Did you have fun shopping for your wardrobe?
A: I wore lots of leggings, so I didn't have to buy too many maternity clothes. When I did go shopping, I loved Gap for tanks with built-in bras. But my go-to item was a black T-shirt with ruched sides from A Pea in the Pod.
Q: What were your favorite activities while pregnant?
A: At first, sleeping was my number one favorite activity, but as my pregnancy progressed and I wasn't as exhausted, working out with a trainer made me feel great. When I was feeling ill in the beginning, just walking outside made me feel better, which is perfect for New York City.
Q: Any weird pregnancy moments?
A: I wasn't prepared for the bloody noses and constant leg cramping!
Q: Your advice for other moms-to-be?
A: Remember: You aren't really eating for two! A little trick that works for em is to try and eat healthy meals when I'm feeling good. On those off days when I'm not feeling great, t hat's when I go for the bagel with cream cheese instead of the oatmeal and berries. Also, enjoy every minute of your pregnancy. Don't fight the symptoms; embrace them instead.
