"My husband and I dream of what our children will look like and what characteristics they might have..."
Junichi (Jun) and I met while we were working in a bowling alley in December, 2003. From the minute I saw him, I was in love with him. But me being the shy one, I couldn't go up and ask him out; so I had my then nine-year-old niece (now 13) go up to him and give him my phone number, and she told him to call her aunt. We have been inseparable ever since. I guess you could say she's a matchmaker.
Jun took the traditional approach to proposing. He asked my father, mother, and stepfather for their blessing. He proposed on May 25, 2005 and we were married on May 26, 2007 on the first tee at a local golf course. It was such a beautiful day.
After getting married and purchasing our home, we decided that we were ready to start a family. I was on birth control for 11 years when I stopped taking it. I was really shocked that my 28-day cycles remained the same. At first I just lurked on the Getting Pregnant board, trying to take in all of the wonderful information being shared. I guess you could say I was a little naive about the whole TTC process. I thought I would get pregnant right away and I soon realized it wasn't going to be that easy. Well nine months went by and we still weren't pregnant. I began to worry; and then we were thrown a curve ball. My period never showed. I found myself testing every day, several times a day, and analyzed every twinge. After awhile I slowly started to give up hope. Finally, the doctor sent me to have blood work and an ultrasound done and the news wasn't what I expected. I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) in June 2008. The doctor prescribed metformin, clomid, and prometrium to start my period. After the first round of prometrium my period never showed. I am currently on my second round of prometrium and I am over 110 days into this cycle.
My husband and I dream of what our children will look like and what characteristics they might have. We try to remain positive that one day soon we will get our chance to become parents. If it wasn't for the love of my husband, I don't know how I would get through this rough patch in our lives.
