lovelyu: Our TTC Story

"We decided some time last year that we want to start a family, but it's definitely easier said than done!"
How we met
It all started back in 1998 when I had just gotten out of a bad relationship; and I was fed up with men! I went to church that following Sunday and noticed this guy (Horace) for the first time. I thought he was cute and what-not. Came to find out, my friend Eva and his brother had class together at Tennessee State University. So, I tell my friend to tell his brother, Brian, that I think his brother is cute! I know... we were in college and I was acting like a high school teenager -- I was shy though! Anyway, it all ended up working out to where my friend and cousin, whom I was living with at the time, set it up so that Horace would come to our apartment that following Sunday. I had no clue this was all going on behind my back.
As I was chilling at home that Sunday evening, our doorbell rang. I was looking around like, "Who is that?" They told me at that moment that it was Horace coming to see me. I actually rushed to the back towards my room to change and do my hair! When I finally came out, there he was with his friend, just sitting on the couch. He ended up cooking for us and asked for my number. He also asked me out that same night. It was a night we will never forget.
We dated for nine years before we got married, because we were so young when we met. Through those nine years, we went through some good and bad times; but through it all we made it and were married December 1, 2007. His father is the pastor of our church, so he married us. We love being married and wished we would have done it years ago. But God knew the timing of when we needed to get married. Our faith in God is what keeps us grounded and loving one another unconditionally.
As for TTC, I used the Nuva Ring from Sept of 2007 to March 2008. Since then, we have not been using any protection or anything. We just want it to happen when it happens. We decided some time last year that we want to start a family, but it's definitely easier said than done! (I thought it would be a quick process.) So, for me the best parts of TTC are that it's brought us closer; and also, it's exciting to know that it's going to happen for us soon. The worst part is waiting and then getting my period each month! Sometimes it makes me so sad when AF shows up; but I know that one day, she will not come and our little miracle will stick.
I love children and I definitely look forward to being a mommy. I know it's not going to be easy all the time, but I have plenty of help on both sides of our families. This would be his parents' first grandchild and my parents' eighth!
