Re: CIO

allierhiana1:
Op posted same question on 3 to 6.

I saw that too.

OP may have posted the question on two boards, but she's posted here before. I remember her name. And I agree with Rora and Spoof, she didn't say that she does let her child CIO, she asked when it would be appropriate to do so. Big distinction here, ladies.

People who joined in 2009 rarely post MUD, ladies.

I didn't even notice that, but then again people who join in 2009 are rarely Newbies, too, right? It doesn't really matter, I just personally thought it was an attempt to make the board more exciting. I do believe I have seen her post before too, now that it has been mentioned.

I'm gonna be the black sheep and say that the responding posters are making a lot of unecessary drama. OP didn't say "I let my kid CIO and it worked!" She said "when is it age appropriate?" Something not everyone knows, and this is actually a good place to ask simple questions like that.

I agree. The Bumbo on the table post is much more drama-worthy, IMO.

AND YET... only Heather (hmp) and I commented on it.  I think that snark is totally called for there.  You can't tell me that if you have LO at the table you won't have to get up for a napkin when something is spilled and leave LO. Here is the reason why bumbo had to add warnings and straps.

I can't see how long people have been members; I'm mobile bumping 99 percent of the time.

I thought OP was joking. I thought she was telling a funny joke and I laughed.

Edit: TB ate my percent sign. I should have known better.

You'd be right except op was just trying to stir the pot.

I was going to say the same thing. This is an appropriate question now. We have babies on this board that are 4mo and a lot of books say you can sleep train at 4mo.

OP, my opinion is not to sleep train until 6mo and my pedi agrees with this age. The problem with 4mo is the 4mo wakeful. My pedi (and I agree) does not think it is appropriate to sleep train during a growth spurt, development spurt, teething, or sickness.

My personal opinion on CIO is if it feels wrong, don't do it. By 6mo, James was STTN with the exception of the events I listed above so I luckily never had to CIO but I have heard plenty of stories from parents on TB that it did work for their 6+ mo old.

Really? I'm curious why you think so. Nothing about what she wrote seemed 'stir the pot' to me. At all. She wasn't even using her pot stirring font. (but I am using my sarcasm font)

I personally thought she was trying to stir the pot because there was no back story- just the question. She didn't post that attempts had been made to soothe the baby, nor did she post that she had done any research. IMO, if she wasn't trying to stir the pot, she could have just as easily googled sleep training instead of asking here- or better yet, called and asked her pedi. Regardless of whether or not she was intentionally trying to stir the pot, it got stirred.

It was only stirred because a couple of ladies puffed up their feathers and went looking for drama. OP followed up with an additional statement in the thread that cleared up her thoughts. OP had nothing to do with the pot stirring. As far as googling it, sure she could have. But lots of things asked on this board could be googled, and no one jumps on those threads. I find your argument to be a stretch at best.

Then we will have to agree to disagree, and none of us have to justify why we feel as we do. There are many, many, times women on this board puff up their feathers and look for drama just to do it. I just think it is funny how when certain people jump on someone it is totally ok, you know- just to debate. Have a happy holiday, Anita.
