My nephew had his 4th birthday party at the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum in Poughkeepsie. It seemed all the children enjoyed themselves and touring the museum. It's right on the river, so people could hang out by the river afteward. I think there is also some sort of bird sanctuary outside the Red Hook area...I don't remember the name or know if they host parties.
