How do I get C past her issues with textures.

The girl is not digging any table food we try to give her.  I've decided it a texture thing after this morning.

We were having apple sauce for breakfast. I give her some and she's loving it.  I give a small piece of mushy diced apple and she acts like it's the most vile thing ever!

Just keep trying?

She is however a HUGE fan of the arrowroot cookies I got yesterday.

We're having this issue right now too.  He'll eat anything hard (crackers, mum mums, puffs, teething biscuits) or pureed.  He loves pureed banana, but spits out bits of non-pureed banana.  When I put broccoli on his tray he gingerly touched it like it was going to bite him.  He will eat bits of shredded chicken and cheese though.

Welcome to my life! Jake definitely likes crunchy things (puffs, cheerios, crackers, etc). He loves his dinnertime veggie/meat combo purees but is wishy washy on whether or not he'll eat any other purees in the morning. And he looks at most other table foods like they're poison. He pokes at them, moves them around, brings it to his mouth, makes a face, then throws them on the floor. It's lovely.

We are gonig through kind og the same thing.  He will eat any finger food unless it is a veggie.  :(  He eats his pureed veggies like a champ though.  I put peas on his tray the other day (for the millionth time) and he moved his hand back anf forth on the tray and knocked most of them to the floor.  The other ones he picked up, smooshed them and then tossed them on the floor.

I am just going to keep offering it every day and hope that he gets it soon!  Just remember, finger foods is mostly practice right now anyway!

I have been really bad about even offering table food.

Maddie sticks everything in her mouth--except food.  She seems to think that the only way to get fed is by me.  Therefore, I have been sticking to mostly purees.

If I give her puffs she practically hypervenilates she is so excited, but I have to stick them in her mouth.

She likes the taste of table food though.  She gets some sort of meat every day, but again she doesn't know how to pick them up and get them to her mouth.  We just keep trying.  The only things she has successfully fed herself are toast and mummums.

Same boat here!  As I tell my patients, keep trying :)  I am just offering to her and not stressing about it and making it fun.  Today we tried very ripe peaches she had maybe 3 tiny pieces.  She will watch me and then maybe take piece, maybe not.  She can eat 1/4 c puffs or 1 mum mum or stick of toast like a champ.

I work with speech pathologist she said not to worry it will come with time and practice.  So I am not worrying.  I work in a feeding disorders clinic so i get super freaked but need to remove my self from work and know she is doing good job and learning :)

Off to farmers market to try some Maine wild blueberries YUM, maybe she will take them squished up with those cute little fingers

The best breakfast I've ever had was camping with friends in New Hampshire and we had pancakes with Maine blueberries and maple syrup one friend's parents made at home from their trees.  Random, but I had to share.

Finn liked blueberries one day, but not the next so who knows what's up with these kiddos!

Just keep offering.  She'll figure it out.  Nothing else you can really do about it!

You all are describing my LO from 4.5 months until 2 weeks ago.  He would give me a look of disgust if his beloved avocado puree had even the smallest lump, and spit it out.

Then he just one day got finger foods - starting with a few things, and expanding over time.  At breakfast this morning he chomped on an apple muffin, cherries (steamed), strawberries (fresh), pineapple (steamed), avocado, and multigrain rice cakes.  He barely touched his avocado/strawberry/blueberry puree that he usually loves.

Every day he gets more adventurous.  And I thought he'd never eat finger foods.  So, just keep trying!  Not sure when or how or why, but I think these kids just one day get it.

My LO is hot and cold with what I offer, as well.  We skipped purees and went straight to table food, but he doesn't seem to think it is as amazing as some other babies.  I plan to just keep offering-- the good thing is, I'm not really wasting too much, since I'm just giving him things that I eat anyway.  I'm hoping things will just click and he'll eat more as time goes on.

She's young.  Just keep offering and she'll get it.  I don't think that pedis worry about texture problems until after 12 months old.
