Will I need two high chairs?

Another wonderful aspect of two under two is you have everything! I was doing some thinking and was wondering what I may need two of though? DD will be 18 months when the baby is born, granted the baby won't need a highchair till months later. Can't remember how long children are in high chairs for! Lol anything else I may need two of that i wouldn't think of???

I don't think you need one. You could get a hook-on-the-chair booster, some come with buckles if your DD still needs that.

I'm not getting one, we'll get some sort of booster seat.  Mine are exactly 18 months apart.  I'll be lucky if our current high chair survives through the next baby, though.  It was handed down from 1 kid and has taken quite a beating by now!

Mine are 19 months apart and we did not get a second high chair. DD1 moved to a booster seat at the table at about 18 months, well before DD2 needed the high chair.

My LO sits in the booster seat now, and will not use the high chair anymore. So no, I don't think you'll need 2.

We have one of these FP booster seats:

http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Healthy-Deluxe-Booster-Green/dp/B0000DEW8N/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1352777268&sr=8-1&keywords=fisher+price+booster+seat,

and one of these space saver high chairs: http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Space-Saver-Chair-Scatterbug/dp/B005IWM99K/ref=sr_1_2?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1352777303&sr=1-2&keywords=space+saver+fisher+price+seat

My 2 currently switch off between them - using them both as booster seats now.  When #3 needs the space saver chair, we will either move DS to the regular chair, or if he is still too short (which he probably will be), we will put him in another booster.

Mine are 14 months apart and we didn't get a 2nd.  We did however get a travel booster seat (with a buckle) that our DD still uses at home.

Mine are 21 months apart. We bought a $12 booster at Target and moved DD1 to that when DD2 was born so she could sit in the Space Saver when we had dinner.

We use a booster and a highchair. We don't need 2 highchairs. I am sure my younger kid will be in a highchair longer than my older one.

We used booster seats not high chairs. At first we used it with the tray but once they got to 12 months they coudl sit up to the table in it. Both of my boys were out of their booster seats by 18 months.

My son is 18 months now and the 2 will be 20-21 months apart.  We have the booster seat at our kitchen table & put my son in it sometimes.  I think he prefers it to the high chair, but he is messier in it.  Def don't think you need 2 highchairs.

Only things I plan on doubling up on are - another crib, have a changing table, but am going to use a changing pad on a dresser in the baby's room (I've heard 2 changing areas are good when one child is napping), humidifier, sound machine (my son uses to go to sleep, but also helps block out sound in the house)...I think that is it

We had one stand alone high chair (Chicco Poly) and one FP Space Saver that latches onto a chair before our second was born.  We had bought the FP before a family vacation so that we could have DD in a high chair during our trip but not have to lug our big Chicco.

So we didn't need another high chair.  Mine are 16 months apart and once DS started eating solids (at 6ish months) I had him in the Chicco and DD in the FP.  Then when DD was a bit over 2 I moved her to a soft booster (a Cooshie) and DS into the FP so that I could put the Chicco away and have more floor space.

IMO, whether you need a second chair (space saver or otherwise) depends on your older child.  If you think they will sit in a seat without being buckled once your younger one needs a high chair (so your older kid will be right around 2) then skip it.  My older child is very good about staying seated during meals until I excuse her.  DS is more of a "free spirit" and needs to be buckled in if I want him to remain seated for long periods of time :).

mine are 19 months apart and DS started losing interest in his chair (a Stokke) about when DD was born.  By the time she was ready to sit in a high chair - a couple weeks ago - DS had not sat in it for weeks.  So, no need for a second chair at our house.  DS is now just sitting in a regular chair, no booster.

We have the First Years booster type high chair (3 in 1, that reclines for baby, sits up for child, ages 0-4 years). I have two. DD2 sits in a "real chair" sometimes, like 20% of the time. I need to be able to keep her still/safe/in one spot, esp with 3 kids, so yes.

I guess I'm in the minority, because we got 2 high chairs. My 2 are 13.5 months apart. My DD was doing well in a high chair and was contained, so why switch it is what I thought. Right at 2 we switched her to a soft booster (prince lionheart). We ended up selling our Baby Trend high hair when DS was ready or solids and we bought 2 restaurant style high chairs. Spent ~$50 on both. Made so much sense for us and I loved having 2.

Although my 2 yr old is still in her crib too, and I know this isn't the norm on TB either.

We just transitioned DD to a booster (18 months). I wanted her to be 100% comfortable in the booster when this baby arrives, even though it will be June-ish when this baby ends up in a high chair.

Mine are 19 months apart. We weren't going to get another high hair, but a friend was giving one away, so I took it. I'm glad I have it for two reasons. 1. DS can climb up into the highchair since it has a step, and really likes it. 2. I don't ave a lot of chairs for my dining room table, so I'm glad to conserve one. But I would not have bought a new one.
