Electric Razors

Do any of you guys use one? I used to have one but it always hurt my skin after I shaved. The hairs would get pulled and it would take so long that the razor would get hot. So I got rid of it. I only shave every 3 or 4 days because my skin gets really irritated even if I shave every other day.

I've been researching and reading reviews. Consumer reviews have come to people getting paid to write them or getting a free sample. It's obvoius when they're so long and favorable. Some of them even say the author got a free sample for writing the review. Then I read a couple bad reviews and got reminded of why I didn't like an electric razor in the first place and now back to square one.

Any ideas or products worth trying?

Do what I did. Grow a beard. I never shave, just trim every week or so.

HA. I don't really want a beard. After a week and a half of not shaving I get really itchy. Plus, the wife wouldn't be pleased. Also, I think I would look funny with one.

I have been thinking about getting one of the one's that can be used in the shower.  I already shave in the shower as it is.  I grow a very heavy beard, and my skin is really sensitive to the blade, so I get a very clean, comfortable shave every 3 days or so in the shower.  I had an electric when I was a lot younger, but I could not stand how little of my beard it actually got clean cut. The wet ones intrigue me because I would shave everyday if it was comfortable enough and clean enough.  I need a clean, smooth shave to be comfortable.

I thought the wet ones just met you could use shaving cream or gel. Or do you mean ones that are water proof? I read another discussion and people said that razors haven't really improved in the past 10 years. I'm guessing I'd still be unsatisfied. I think I'll just think of something else to put on my Christmas list.

These new wet ones can be used in the shower.  Pretty cool actually, if they work well enough.

I'd have to invest in a shower mirror as well. Decisions decisions.

I never use one and I have been shaving in the shower for half my adult life now.  YOu get used to it really quick, actually.

I think part of it is that everyone's skin/hair is different.  So what works for some may not work for others.  I don't need to shave everyday (doesn't grow in fast enough).  I have a cheap electric that I got for Christmas a couple years ago that I like.  I'll try to remember to check what it is and post it up here.

For me using a straight razor always left me red and raw. I am babyfaced so the 3-day stubble look works for me, so I tend to just use my electric to trim it down to stubble. If you prefer baby-smooth, electrics aren't ideal.

I ended up growing a beard so I don't have to shave.  I trim up the beard every few weeks and shave a small portion of my neck once every week or so.  Then again, I am an engineer in the heavy truck industry so looks are not as important as in other industries.

I actually use clippers, razors really jack up my skin. My skin is super sensitive so the clippers are best and I never get a really close shave, but it's better than razor bumps.

I use a Remington Ti Microflex - about 4 years old, got it at Kohls.  I've replaced the heads once, and probably need to again soon, but it works very well.

usually it takes 3 weeks or so to get used to a razor.  part of it is that the hair will start growing in a way that makes the razor pull less, then not at all.  also, it takes about that long for the blades to wear down to match the foil.  after a month you should be smooth.  that's been my experience with all of my electric razors.  I do use  a Mach 3 if I haven't shaved in a week though, just much easier to do it in the shower in the running water... I just rough it out, then take care of the details once I'm out and in front of a mirror.

I never liked the electric razors but I love my regular razor. I use a Gillette fusion razor I use the one that vibrates does a nice job especially with a nice shaving gel for sensitive skin. I love it cause it doesn't cause any irritation with me having to shave everyday cause of my job

I may have to consider that when my mach3s run out. I was using the 5 bladed ones and only switched back to the mach3s because they were a 3rd of the price. I think I'm going to switch back to the more expensive ones once these run out though.
