1) Going anywhere for Thanksgiving, the family coming to you, or just doing a small intimate Thanksgiving this year?
We do the same routine pretty much every Thanksgiving. All of our immediate families are within an hour drive of us, so we head up to my in-laws for Thanksgiving lunch, eat our turkey then the ladies go to Big Lots (for some reason they are open Thanksgiving day) while the guys watch football and slip into turkey comas. After that, we head down to my parents house and have Thanksgiving dinner. The main course is the same, but aside from mashed potatoes and stuffing, the sides are completely different, so it isn't like eating the same meal twice.
2)
If we do a 5 Things: Ladies Edition, what question(s) would you want to
ask the collective wives/fiancees/girlfriends of the dad's board?
Maybe ask what they enjoy seeing us do, or participate in either during the pregnancy or as fathers. Maybe what they would like to see us do that we don't do as much as we should. Ask their favorite part of being pregnant/being a new mom???
3) I may have asked this already, but what are your hobbies? Golf? Video Games? Amateur taxidermy?
I used to play some video games (mostly Madden), until my XBox 360 got a quarter of the red ring of death and I've had better things to spend money on than replacing a system I frankly won't get to play much any longer. Aside from that, probably watching sports and going to the zoo. Yes, going to the zoo is something I consider a hobby because if I go to a new city, I like seeing their zoo or aquarium. I've actually made day trips and a full vacation once in my single days based on a zoo or aquarium. Went to Atlanta because while watching Monday Night Football, they showed a whale shark as one of the commercial lead out local shots of Atlanta, and I've always wanted to see one, so I hopped on the computer, found the Georgia Aquarium, did some research and came up with a vacation down in Atlanta based off it. I've been to at least 8 different zoos and 5 aquariums (not counting Sea World or Animal Kingdom).
4) On Tuesday I turn 37. My present? I get to take my son to get tubes surgically placed in his ear canals to hopefully prevent the ear infections he's been getting for the last year on and off from happening any longer. Granted, my son's health is a great gift and something that needs to be done, but not how I originally saw my birthday going. Fortunately, it isn't a highly dangerous procedure and from nearly everyone I've talked to, my son will be back to normal (or close to it) by later that day.
5) Starting today (Thursday) is one of the busiest weeks of the season for my job. However, I'm on vacation starting Saturday, so I am thankful I don't have to deal with it.
