medication question

Just stopping by to ask a question that has me curious.

I have a history of post partum and "regular" depression so I do know that I have a higher than normal odds of having post partum depression again.  I am currently about 22 week pg.

Based on previous history, I am unable to take SSRIs due to my body's reaction to them.  So now I'm curious, what non-SSRIs are prescribed for breastfeeding moms with PPD?

Thanks.

I have a similar history so I sought out a maternal mental health expert before I had my baby (my first appt was around 36w).  We discussed various options, and she agreed that Effexor XR, which had worked for me in the past, would be okay while BFing.  (I've been on it since day 1 PP and my LO has shown no ill effects so far).  Other options she mentioned were tricyclics.

I also use a non-SSRI drug.  It is and old drug and has been studied a lot.  Trazodone.  I think it is bfeeding safe.  Look up any drug questions on LactMed...it is based on Dr. Hale's thoughts of meds and nursing.
