January 2013 Momma Had a Baby!

Baby Lucas was 7 weeks early so not the best scenrio, but he's doing great and should be out of the hospital by Christmas! (PS - this is obviously not my baby...just the first on the Jan 2013 board)

Ladies this means that we have already had our first 2013 baby born. (Even though technically he's a 2012 baby)

Almost half way there! This pregnancy is flying!

Just lurking, but im a Jan2013 mama, and Lucas was not the first of our group to be born. A little girl, Ellie, was born in October at 26weeks along. Im happy to say that shes doing well and staying strong in the NICU, though she still has a long journey to go. We've had a mom have her twin boys 4weeks ago (they are both also doing well) , and another mom have her little girl last week! We've had quite a few births on our boards already, but hoping all the rest of us keep our LO's cooking until full term. Good luck to all you May2013 moms!

I've gone back and forth about saying something about this post because I know the intentions were good, but it kind of rubbed me the wrong way.  The vast majority of preterm births are very scary and the celebratory note of the post kind of made me cringe.

BFP #1: 1/10/12; EDD: 9/20/12, born too early on 5/7/12 (20w4d) due to IC/PTL/chorioamnionitis.
BFP #2: 8/30/12; EDD: 5/9/13, emergency cerclage placed at 22w5d, dx cardiomyopathy, strict bed rest for 14 weeks. DD born at 39 weeks.

Agreed. OP, I think you meant well but celebrating the fact that a preemie was born is inappropriate. I'd just be careful of wording next time, that's all.

I'm very sorry this post came across that way. I really didn't mean anything bad by it, but I completely understand where you all are coming from. I apologize if I offended anyone and I just wanted to add that I wasn't trying to make light of the early delivery. I feel horrible for coming across the wrong way. After struggling with pre-term labor starting at 35 weeks with my last pregnancy I know that it is a very scary thing.

I feel horrible. Just know that I'm praying for healthy, full-term babies for all of you!

This. The NICU in our hospital is over-flowing right now with preterm babies. 14 were admitted just last week. Only 23 beds with 26, soon to be 27, babies. There is a rash of PROM right now. (premature rupture of membranes) Nothing to celebrate, yet.

Thank you very much for the update.  We're very glad that all the premie babies seem to be doing well.  Good luck with the last month or so and praying for lots of healthy babies in 2013!

I think we all understand that it wasn't your intention to come off that way.  Don't be too hard on yourself.  You said something that a few of us didn't like and you apologized.  No need to keep worrying about it.

My April 2011 baby was born in February.  It still blows my mind.  Hoping my May baby is born in May!
