I worked on the postpartum unit for 3 years. We made wonderful ice packs (which were also absorbent as well) out of newborn diapers. You just tear open the end by the tape, grab the sides and break the diaper apart and fill with ice. Roll down a couple of times and use the tape to tape it back up. They are awesome.
