Here are the things I like having:
shampoo / conditioner, body wash, slippers, robe, comfortable pajama pants or sweats and comfortable tops, granny panties, socks, sports bras, nursing bras, camera, brush, hair ties & clips and a seperate diaper bag for baby with take home outfit, blanket, and extra diapers and wipes.

Make a list and keep it with your bag of things that should go in the bag but you still use on a daily basis like your toothbrush, hair brush, things for glasses or contacts if needed, cell phone charger ect.

Funny story side note on this: I had my list made up and attached to my hospital bag. I was admitted to the hospital because of an NST test the day before my scheduled induction. I was at the hospital alone and they would not let me leave to go pick up my husband or anything (yes I really asked, "Can I come back and be admitted in an hour?") SO I told DH get the bag and the things that are written on the list from the bathroom. DH brought the bag and the list but nothing written on the list!!! And he wouldn't leave me to go back home and get the items. I didn't have a hairbrush, tooth brush, or even clothing to wear home besides what I wore to the hospital to begin with. *sigh* men...

My advice is don't pack things you get in the hospital unless you are reaaaaally picky about using certain brands. The hospital provides diapers, wipes, pads, nursing pads, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, pillows, blankets, etc.

A couple things I didn't see on the other lists:

- Ear plugs if you are a light sleeper

- Chapstick (it is SO dry in hospitals)

The hospital where I delivered DS did not provide wipes- just diapers and wash cloths that I would have had to wet myself. Check with your hospital specifically ahead of time.

I way overpacked last time and hardly used anything I packed. The things I did use were shampoo/conditioner, toothbrush, hairties, change of clothes for me to come home in, a of couple shirts and pants and socks for DH, socks for myself, diaper bag with coming home outfit, diapers, blanket etc. Snacks, movies, and books might come in handy but we never used any of that either. Also don't forget your camera!

I wore the hospital gowns the whole time I was there and used their mesh underwear which they also sent home with me. Way more comfy and easier than regular underwear. They have everything for the baby and send a lot of things home with you like diapers, pacified, hats, blankets, formula, pretty much everything.

I packed two bags, one for delivery and one for my stay.

Delivery bag:

Phone charger

Camera & charger

laptop with movies loaded & charger

slippers/ socks (I have warm socks with leather soles) for walking the halls and keeping feet warm

old bathrobe for keeping warm

snacks for me and DH

For my Stay

PJs for each day I was staying

Kindle and charger

going home outfit

shower things

this time I'm packing water bottles (they aren't provided by the hospital and cost more there than at the store)

baby book

Pillow

**Everything was provided for the baby and I was also given mesh undies to wear...love)**

I packed as much as I could in the two bags and then wrote a list of what was missing from each (chargers etc.) so I or whoever went for the bag knew what was missing and I wasn't running around the house like a headless chicken.

Personally I hated the mesh undies. I bought a pack of cheap Hanes a size larger than I'd normally wear. Much more comfy for me.
