The first place I heard of this was my cousin, he ordered special chocolate cherries that his wife loves and had them at the house when she got out of the hospital with their first. I can't remember what he got for their second but I remember they were both very thoughtful things that she doesn't get to enjoy often.
I think something like that is a wonderful push present, something a bit luxurious that makes the first few days home feel special.
