Early labor/contractions before RCS

I ended up having to have an unplanned CS with DS at 37.5 weeks. DH & I are considering having a LO #2. If I choose a RCS scheduled at 39 weeks or later, what happens if I go into labor before? Do contractions need to be at a certain point before you are admitted to the hospital or do you go as soon as contractions start?

I'm glad you're asking this question--I was wondering the same thing!  I'm assuming you just go in when your water breaks and they have an emergency c-section or attempt a VBAC (if you are a good candidate and the hospital you're at allows it)?

My water broke before my scheduled c/s my first child and he was breech. I called my OB ER line and they said to come in ASAP! It was 1 am so I packed up and we headed out to the ER. They tested my fluid to make sure it was my water and then called my OB to do my c/s. It happened really quickly and before I knew it, we were in the OR having a baby! I'm not sure about contractions alone but if your water breaks you need to head in ASAP!

I was told that bleeding, water breaking or timeable contractions I was to go to the hospital. I went twice before my scheduled section, and was kept overnight twice.  Better safe than sorry and I was not a canidate for a VBAC and my hospital didn't allow them so I didn't want to end up in a dangerous situation.

If your water breaks, you go to the hospital.  No questions.

If you are having contractions, time them.  When they become consistent, call your doctor and s/he will let you know what to do.
