New here... just sad today

Hi there...

I'm new to this site. My husband and I have a wonderful four and a half year old son, and have been trying to conceive for six months now. This morning I woke up with my period... and I am just sad. I know that six months is not that long to be trying- but I am starting to wonder. Our son was a total surprise- we conceived on birth control, and I have now been birth control free for over a year, so I am really surprised that it is taking this long to get pregnant again. I guess I just needed somewhere to vent. We were really hoping for a happy little holiday gift. It seems like everywhere I turn now, everyone is pregnant and it is just breaking my heart that we are without a little one still :(

Welcome to TB and sorry you are having a hard day. It can take a healthy couple 12 months to conceive, however if you aren't charting it can take longer due to timing issues. The best place to start, if you aren't doing so already, is charting/temping. I recommend you lurk on TTGP for awhile to get to know the feel of the board. Read the newbie link in the group description. GL!

I'm so sorry that you're having a rough day.  It took us 7 months to get pregnant with DS- and while I know that 7 months is not very long to TTC, it sure felt like a long time.

Like the pp said, check out the helpful info from the Trying to Get Pregnant board.

Are you charting?  Maybe you're not trying on the right days.

Good luck.  I really hope it happens for you soon.

I hear ya.  I was hoping for some good news this morning.  No AF but I did get a BFN when I took an HPT.  I'm only one day late but was also hoping for a holiday gift.
