Christmas Pictures were a BUST

I went yesterday after work to have DS pictures taken with Santa and his formal 2 year portraits done. Well, Santa pics were a NO GO. I hyped him up and told him that Santa was his friend, and that he would bring him presents. We went by the disney store, and I got him some stickers. NONE OF THAT WORKED. We stand in line, and he is dancing and singing and playing with the elf statutes, and then when we get up there to the front, and he grabbed my leg and started backing up. A total replay of last year. I said, come on, it's our turn. To which he screamed, NOOOOOO MOMMIE, PLEASE LET'S GO! Now, I know that several people put their child on Santa's lap anyway, and got the screaming and crying picture, but I just could not do it. He was so pitiful and upset. Plus, uhm, they were charging 30 bucks for 4 pictures, and that was alot to get horrible shots. So, we got out of line and went to picture people. He got some pretty decent shots and some Christmas cards. Did your LOs do well with Santa this year?

Logan was pretty good! There is a Santa that is down in the atrium where I work and Logan goes to school. They don't charge for pictures (you just take them yourself) and there is pretty much never a line. It's awesome. So we were walking and looking down at Santa and I asked if he wanted to go see him, he said he did.

We waited for one little girl who was talking to Santa, then Logan walked right up to him and let him lift him onto his lap. He wasn't exactly thrilled to be on his lap...but no tears!!

Jack did great with Santa! One thing that my mom had told me was to show him pics from last year with Santa so that he could see that he has already met Santa and it really seemed to help. I was super nervous because Jack can be pretty shy when it comes to new people. I think it also helped that his sister was there because then he was the big brother looking out for his sister.

Awww, that is soo cute. Logan is so photogenic. It is great that they had a Santa right in the lobby. We  had to drive 40 minutes, because I am no where near a mall.

Okay, I burst out laughing when I read your post! LOLOLOL. That was my kid all the way. Atleast Kieran let Santa hold him. My kid was having no parts of letting the man in the red suit touch him. This pictures are soo cute. A part of me wanted to go ahead with the pictures with him crying, but I just couldn't do it. Years later, I am sure that these pictures will be treasures for you guys.

I am glad that Jack had a good experience. I think it helps when the kids have a sibling to go with them, but I have an only kid, and he was not budging. LOLOL. That is a good idea to take a picture from previous years with Santa though. The problem is, the only good one we have is the year that he was 2 months. Last year photo was horrible, he was in the process of squirming out of Santa's lap and tears were streaming down his cheeks.

The only reason we got him on his lap is because I backed him onto his lap so by the time he reacted he was already sitting.  We went to a Santa breakfast a week later and tried again, this time giving Kieran the opportunity to make the choice, I was thinking he might do better.  We couldn't even get him to sit that time.  So I guess backing in was the best approach.

We've done the same Santa every year.  I love the screaming pictures too much.

We had the same experience. We spent a few days before talking about Santa, watching cartoons with Santa and all of that. As soon as DS caught a glimpse of Santa, he started to get very nervous. My sister was helping me (it was a take your own picture kind of Santa) and it was just not going to happen.

Awww, Liam's outfit was soo cute. He has the same "get me the heck away from this clown in the red suit" expression that my son had as we walked on through the ropes. I am hoping that next year goes better. I don't know. We watched Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Frosty, too, but he just does not like to be face to face with Santa.

Is it bad that I haven't even tried to take DS to see Santa?  I guess I'm just not into Santa in person.  I prefer reading about him lol.
