Milk/food!

My 12 month old DD was bottle fed expressed milk until 7 months. We supplemented with Similac advance ready to feed. Then she went exclusivly to Similac when my milk dried up at 7 months. I am having yhe hardest time trying to figure out what milk to switch her too. She only has 2 teeth and we have started her on a few more solids but not enough to add a whole lot of calories yet. I want to do what is best for my DD, and i myself drink Almond Milk. I dont know if I want to do whole milk because of all the issues around dairy these days, but all the alternatives seem like they dont have enough calories/ fat. Please help me! What do you feed hour baby? How much of it and how often? How did you introduce it/ ween baby off formula? If you feed your baby soy or almond, how do you make up the extra calories? Thanks :

If your baby isn't eating much solids its okay to continue formula past 12 months to make they are getting all the nutrients they need. There is also toddler formula available although I am not sure what the difference is. You would be amazed what babies can eat with no teeth so I would encourage you to keep trying more solids. If you are really concerned then it doesn't hurt to call the pedi.

I'd probably continue formula until your baby is eating 3 solid meals + 2 snacks a day. I'd start pushing more solids (not baby food - real solids) because there is no reason a 1 year old can't eat them. Babies eat all kinds of food - even meat- without teeth. I would start replacing formula with Milk (I think Almond Milk is fine, but I'd discuss what type with her doctor) a couple times a day as she starts to eat more meals. My daughter has always kind of dropped bottles on her own. She now drinks milk in the morning, at noon, and in the evening, but she pretty much got there on her own as she started eating more food.

This!

My pediatrician said that almond milk is the best alternative to cow's milk, if you don't want to/can't give that. I would make up the calories by feeding more yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese etc.

DS still only has 2 teeth too and hasn't gained weight in about 2 months since he's been walking/running all over the place.  I just weaned and have a freezer of BM and will use that until I run out (sometime in January) and am also bringing in WCM.  Our pedi also gave us a vitamin that we give to him daily as she said babies are fickle and somedays will eat a ton and other days have no intrest in food so that way you know they are at least getting their vitamins and you don't worry as much.  DS eats a ton of food though with just 2 teeth.  He loves crackers, mum mums, eggs, bananas, carrots, peas, rice, bread, and we give him a lot of the pouches of pureed fruits and veggies.

Our daughter only has two tooth two and she happily munches

*thin apple sticks, frozen blueberries, banana,

*cheese, eggs, meat balls (a fave - esp parmesan veal)

*streamed veggies

*toast

Just sharing so you don't let toothlessness hold you back :)

This... I would just call your pedi. M has her 2 front teeth and that's it and she eats every thing we eat, every single meal right at the table with us and has since before she even got those teeth. I believe (and take this with a grain of salt) that the problem isn't necessarily continuing formula past 12 months but continuing bottles, so maybe put the formula in a sippy?
