Placenta Accreta

I am 7 months PP and was just diagnosed with placenta Accreta. Anyone else in the same boat had a successful pregnancy and not needed a hysterectomy after next birth? Any stories are appreciated!

I'm confused, are you pregnant again?

I'm sorry you are going through this.  Why do they think you got placenta accreta? Prior c-section? Fibroids? Just bad luck? I am hoping to avoid placenta accreta but I'm being monitored for it right now.  I am just thinking that depending on your reason for developing placenta accreta, it may be more or less likely to recur.  For example, a c-section scar isn't going to go away, but if you were one of the few who gets it after placenta previa, that's not necessarily going to happen again. This is just my guess. I have no actual medical knowledge about it.

You have to have a placenta, ie. be pregnant, to have placenta accreta. It is where the placenta grows abnormally into the uterine wall.

I think she meant that she had it with her last pregnancy that was 7 months ago.  From what I understand, it's not always diagnosed during pregnancy.

Also, I had a doctor's appt today and I most likely have placenta accreta. My OB said that as long as it doesn't develop into increta or percerta I should be able to have another baby just fine in the future.

U actually think she meant for future pregnancies but I am not sure.

It's not always diagnosed during pg, but it should be diagnosed at birth or shortly thereafter. If she had retained part of the placenta after birth they would not have only discovered it 7 months later.

Anyway, she's not coming back it seems so we'll never know what she means.

Molly, sorry you may have it and I hope it turns out fine.

ETA: Just found this: http://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/67662740.aspx

where she says they discovered retained placenta at 10 weeks pp. So I guess she's saying they think that was placenta accreta.
