GilletteBaby:Not pregnant. Got diagnosed after c section
You have to have a placenta, ie. be pregnant, to have placenta accreta. It is where the placenta grows abnormally into the uterine wall.
I think she meant that she had it with her last pregnancy that was 7 months ago. From what I understand, it's not always diagnosed during pregnancy.
Also, I had a doctor's appt today and I most likely have placenta accreta. My OB said that as long as it doesn't develop into increta or percerta I should be able to have another baby just fine in the future.
It's not always diagnosed during pg, but it should be diagnosed at birth or shortly thereafter. If she had retained part of the placenta after birth they would not have only discovered it 7 months later.
Anyway, she's not coming back it seems so we'll never know what she means.
Molly, sorry you may have it and I hope it turns out fine.
ETA: Just found this: http://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/67662740.aspx
where she says they discovered retained placenta at 10 weeks pp. So I guess she's saying they think that was placenta accreta.
