Are your presents under the tree?

I put the Christmas presents under the tree. Brave, I know.  My dd isn't crawling yet, and so I figure, what's a little more incentive going to hurt.  It's been super cute.  She rolls around the living room floor for her current mode of transportation.  I will disappear into the kitchen for a cpl minutes and then I hear, "Rip!"  I quickly peak my head in and the little munchkin has ripped a bow of one of my presents (which I'm sure is a dvd) and is about to try and eat it.  lol...So I promptly tell her, "Grace, it's not Christmas yet.  You can't open those." in a silly sing song voice.  Then, "Ta ta!" and I move her away.  She gives me the biggest impish grin that you ever did see.  She's done it a few more times and each time I get the biggest grin.  Most of the time though she stays away.  So, are there any presents under the tree? Or do you dare?

Yep, they're under there, the tree is right in the middle of her play area too, but we  surrounded it with the dogs ex-pen fence as soon as we put it up, she has never bothered it. Likes to look though!

We are leaving ours upstairs. I'm actually more concerned about the dog than DD as he has been leaving trash around the house when we go out for a little.

Ours are under the tree. I'm using them to block DD from the extension cord that the lights are plugged in to.

We just tell her "no" or "no, not Christmas yet" and then redirect her. She's doing pretty good with it. She hasn't ripped yet but wrapping paper can be replaced if need be.

No way.  Ian is enjoying undecorating the bottom of the tree. (I just put soft stuffed animal type ornaments within his reach.)  Santa doesn't bring the presents until Christmas!!   And I still have a lot of wrapping to do!

No. Isaac is getting into the tree way to much. If there is a gift out he is there in .02 seconds. So I put them in our coat closet. My parents came to visit yesterday and I sent some with them since we will be there Christmas morning anyways. He ripped the wrapping paper on one already. So now it has a patch job. lol. Oh well... He won't know the difference. I will put the presents under there next year.

So here's a question then. All of you who aren't putting them out yet, how are you keeping your LOs away from the cords? I like presents under the tree as soon as possible anyway but they really there right now as a road block.

I have presents there, as I said, but also just to add I have shoved the wooden rocking elephant (yes elephant!), off to the side as well and he guards the cords ;)

We don't decorate for Christmas until Christmas Eve.  I used to hate Advent as a kid, but now that I've been pregnant, I sort of understand the whole anticipation of a child and Advent seems super special this year.  I have presents wrapped already and hiding in closets and our tree goes in the front bedroom, so there's a door to close it off from A (but more importantly the cats).

The cord got tucked under the tree skirt. It is also on the back of the tree and the back wall there so he doesn't get to it. I get him out of the tree before he can realize they are back there. But you can't really see the cord anyways. If he gets into the tree it's not a big deal I can put the ornaments back on easily enough. But the presents he kept ripping the paper and I didn't want to have to keep re-wrapping them. He won't remember the presents weren't under the tree this year.

No way. DD is always on the move and would be ALL over them... especially the ribbon. As it is she undecorates the tree as far as she can reach everyday, haha. I'm worried she'd destroy the presents.

No, but it might actually help my situation. We had to move the tree out of the room because, as of about 4 days ago, we have a crawler that is obsessed with the tree. After he yanked it down (under my husband's supervision), I moved it to the front room and gated him away. If I out the presents around, it could keep him at bay!

Tree fully decorated and stuffed with presents. We actually have our tree around the corner in the breakfast nook and Jake doesn't play in the floor in there so we're safe this year. I'm sure next year that we'll be in trouble when he's running around...

Yup they are all under the tree. Nate isn't crawling yet though so I'm not worried. He hasn't even really noticed them as he doesn't spend much time in that room.
