RSV - Would you bring your LO around a dx'd LO?

So, our family Christmas is being held at DH's cousin's house.  Cousin has triplets a week younger than our DD.  One was just diagnosed with RSV tonight.

I have no experience with this illness and do not know much at all except what I just read on Medicinenet.com.  It says the incubation period is 2-8 days and the catagious period is 3-8 days.

Anyways, Christmas shindig is in two more weekends.  Would you go and bring LO?  Like I said, I don't know much about this illness except for what I just read and I'm wondering if I should be concerned about the possibility of one or both of the other triplets getting it and during that 'incubation period' prior to being dx'd they would be contagious and DD would be exposed to it.

Am I overreacting?  What is your experience with this infection?  What is the return-to-daycare rule with this illness?  DD seems to hang on to sicknesses so DH thinks it's best not to even chance it, which I agree that I wouldn't chance DD's health knowing that it's a big risk.  I'm just not knowledgable about this so I don't know if we are making the right decision.

Ultimately, what would you do?  Stay home or go?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think it would depend if other kids get RSV too. It's not as dangerous in older children, but I would keep my DS away

That's what I'm afraid of.  If the other babies get it, but nobody knew they got it because it was in the incubation period.  Apparently, they didn't give meds to them so it's just time that makes them less contagious.  I don't want to overreact if its not a concern and miss out on our entire family get together, but if I'd be putting Sofie at risk then it's not worth it.

Sigh..Decisions, decisions.

Eh, I'd probably go and make an effort to keep LO away from the sick kid. If it was a lesser occasion, like a birthday party, I wouldn't bother. But I wouldn't miss Christmas for this. RSV is actually very common, so I'm sure DD will get it at some point. I'm actually surprised she hasn't gotten it yet from DC.

Estwd - we have been waiting for this gathering for months and it's so nice to see DD with the triplets and other kids.  It probably sounds like I'm saying "I'd never put DD at risk" but here I am asking if I should risk her.  I just don't know enough to know if there is a risk to bring her or not.  Maybe I should call the doctor's office.

Thanks for your input!

Do you know if another kid at DC were to have it what the rule would be before they would be allowed to return?

DC's rules are pretty standard - no fever, vomiting, or 3 loose stools for 24 hours and they can return.
