Our BF has added a member :)

DD arrived several days ago, and things are going wonderfully. DS (4) is so in love with his sister! He was actually the first person to hold her after myself & DH. My girl has a head of hair, which I am enjoying until it inevitably falls out ;).

DH & I are doing our best to make sure DS still feels important and included, and our trying to keep our routine as normal as possible. Any advice about how to do this would be appreciated :).

DS was almost three when DD was born. I just involved him as much as possible in taking care of her. I also made sure it wasn't all about the baby all the time. I focused on making sure he had enough attention, either from me or his Dad. if people came over to fawn all over the baby I would take that opportunity to play with DS or at least cuddle with him.

Good luck with the transition, and congrats!

Congrats. Her hair may not fall out. Suprisingly my DD was born with a full head of thick, black hair. Her BD and I were both blonde headed kids but black runs in my dad's side of the family. It never fell out but just started growing in blonde after that. See her pic below. Anyway, I didn't cut her hair until was almost 2 and my mom used to joke about it looking like I dipped the end of her hair in black paint.

Congrats! Let DS help with anything he can. Even something as simple as getting out a diaper. We've let DS help pick out DDs outfits too. He always wants to know what she's doing and we try to let help as much as possible. He has reindeer antlers with bells and DD loves when he wears them and makes them jingle.

Congratulations!!

If it's important to you, you'll find a way. If it's not, you'll find an excuse. 50 Photobucket photo d385b8da-3cb6-4dcc-8bf4-987b063f8fe8_zps2c53a309.jpg http://www.wendilea.origamiowl.com

Congrats!

Just the fact that you're already making an effort to include your son & keep him feeling important means that you'll do fine :)

I think the best part about having an older child is that you can celebrate the new baby's milestones together. It's been so much more fun to see SS be just as excited for DS's first words, and learning to crawl, and stand. I love talking to SS about the things that DS is learning.

It's old news to their dad, who raised SS on his own for the first 18 months, so it's nice to have a little chatty buddy! Plus being a "chatty cathy" doesn't require any extra hands, lol.
