Any Ideas?

Ok, I'm done with sleep training. It sucks, and IMHO, it isn't working.  Sure it worked fantastic when she was 6-7 mos old.

She slept 10 hrs/night from 6.5 mos - 10 mos.  Then (as I've mentioned MANY times since) she got croup.  I held her for 3 nights, since then it's been hell.

She goes down fine most nights, but anywhere between 1 and 3 am she is up and screaming.

--  I've tried going in after 5 minutes soothing her (without picking her up) and she goes back to sleep.  But the more I do it the earlier/more frequently she wakes.

-- I've tried just laying there and listening to her cry, she'll usually fall asleep again after 15 minutes but then she's up 4 or 5 more times.

-- I've tried picking her up and holding her, she goes back to sleep, but as soon as I put her down... screaming.

-- I've tried putting her in bed with us... she sleeps we dont.

It's been almost 3 months since I've had a full nights sleep.  I feel like I'm dealing with a newborn again.

She has a lovie, a blankie, pillow, music/white noise, night light, I've warmed the house up, cooled it off, tried heavy jammies, light jammies,

Her routine has been the same since her umbilical cord fell off.  Bath, book, bottle, bed. (I haven't even considered getting rid of the night bottle yet...I'm afraid we'll go from getting 6 hrs of sleep to 4 or less).

We've tried earlier bed times, later bed times, it doesn't matter.  She WILL NOT SLEEP!!

So, if any of you have other ideas or suggestions.  I'll take em.

PS I feel like a real a** hole bitching about this, knowing that my baby is home alive and well, and there are 20 sets of parents out there who would gladly go back to sleepless nights. So, while I am thankful, and know how truly blessed I am, our family needs sleep.

I'm sorry you're not getting any sleep! We did cry it out and it didn't work for our son and I tried a couple other things too. The only thing that seemed to work was the sleep lady shuffle where you put them down and you sit next to the crib, don't pick them up but when she cries you shush and pat her back every once in a while and every night you do a little less and move a little further from the crib. It's supposed to help them learn how to sleep on their own instead of them needing you to help them sleep. There's also a book you can get on it from amazon that had good recommendations. I don't know if she uses pacifiers but we have like 3 extra one's in there as well. That worked the best for us but every baby is different. Is she sick or anything? maybe an ear infection or teething? DS has slept like crap the last couple days but think he's teething and has a fever so taking him to the doctor today to make sure. I hope something works for you, when baby and momma aren't sleeping it's not fun!

Thank you.  I may try the sleep lady shuffle... I don't know if it will work, but anything is worth a shot.

Yes she takes a bink, I have 3 in her crib.  She's not sick, no signs of an ear infection, we go to the dr for her 1 year on Friday, so we'll see. She hasn't cut a tooth in months either... I am convinced she's only ever going to have 6 teeth.

Yea it seemed to work for us. CIO only seemed to piss him off every time we would come in for the time intervals.  I laughed at the tooth comment since I thought for sure DS would never get teeth and he got his first 2 teeth this month and think more are trying to come through.  Maybe the Ped. will have some good advice, hopefully something works out soon. I've also heard separation anxiety can be bad now so maybe that could be part of it too.

Honestly... I believe it is separation anxiety.  DH and I are battling this one right now, I'm hoping the dr. can give us some solutions.

Maybe all her teeth will come in at once and that's the problem, and it will all magically solve itself and she'll sleep hapily every after... hahahaha... one can hope right!!?

Have you tried giving her a little Tylenol or Motrin?  She could be about to cut teeth.  Also, is there any chance she's hungry?  When C wakes up crying and then goes back to sleep and then wakes up again soon after, I'm pretty sure she's hungry.  Maybe offer more during the day?  It's funny I'm trying to offer advice when C's only ever slept through the night one time.  I feel your pain.  :)

See I've thought that, but she's been eating good amounts during the day, she gets her am milk in a sippy with some oatmeal, then a "breakfasty" snack around 9 am, lunch at 12:30, snack at 4, dinner at 6, bottle at 8... maybe a snack and milk at 8?

We're dealing with the separation anxiety too, it sucks! I'm still doing 3 bottles a day so I'm not that good at backing off of them yet I was going to talk to Ped. about it today. Maybe it is food along with separation anxiety though. Sucks that these babies can't talk and tell us right?

Amen. If she'd just tell me what the problem was I would fix it. Haha, soon enough.

First of all...((HUGS))

Second...you are not alone. We have done CIO for 2 1/2 weeks now...he STTN for 2 nights and then went back to where we started. He will cry for 2 hours and not stop until we go in and hold him. I don't know how to get him to STTN and I am way too tired to be motivated to try out something new that I have to read up on before hand. We decided to just go back to holding him for now, so at least he and one of us can get some sleep. He'll hopefully not be 16 one day and still needing to be held.
