Labor/Birthing music

I apologize if this has been posted before, but I scrolled back a few pages and didn't see anything about it. I am planning a birth center birth with a midwife. They of course encourage all sorts of relaxation techniques, so I will be bringing aromatherapy products and music. I did a search on amazon and there were something like 9,000 results for relaxation/meditation music. I'm going to as my yoga instructor if she has any favorites, but I was wondering what CDs/music do you all recommend?

You might find the Blissborn playlist on Spotify or Pandora to be helpful.

It depends on what you like and what helps you relax.  I got a CD that had nature sounds (like waterfalls, streams, birds, etc) because I find those very soothing.  I thought it would be great but when I was in labor music was the last thing on my mind and I actually preferred it to be quiet.   I found that breathing and having my H and doula rub my back were the best things for helping me relax in labor. You should be able to listen to some quick samples from the CDs to gauge how you feel about them.  Pick something you find soothing and relaxing.GL!

I'm a FTM, but when I imagine myself laboring, I know it will be hard work and I'll want to feel motivated by the music ("calming" spa music grates on my nerves). So, I'll use my running playlists for labor music. It's a lot of upbeat tunes that get me in the mindset of "this is hard, but I can do it!" and that's exactly how I'll want to feel during birth.

I'd make a few playlists of your favorite stuff in case you need some more energy than the relaxing stuff gives.

When I was in labor with DD I used several kinds of music. The hospital I was at had some relaxation cd's. They were nice when I was in the tub. With the music and water I was able to sleep between contractions. It was mostly the waterfalls and rain type stuff. Also soft classical music was nice too. I  made a play list of calmer music I enjoy. I also found myself singing old hymns and songs from my childhood. Sometimes it's hard to know what well work untill your in the moment.

im totally just lurking but i had to comment that i LOVE sitar music! i dont know where the liking came from, but i find it to be soooo relaxing. i would highly recommend checking out some ravi shankar and debashish bhattacharya. personally, i like the slower more chill stuff so just poke around a little on youtube and see if you like it, too!
