Weekly Craft Checkin! (Week of Dec. 17)

(Getting a head start on this because I'm going to be busy tomorrow.)

1. What did you accomplish last week? (Any pictures to share?)

1. Finished painting the doors.  Sink & faucet are installed and the fridge door & under-the-sink cupboard door have been put on:

I love how it's turning out!  Perhaps one of my favorite parts: we attached a sheet of metal on the fridge door and I bought DD a cute set of farm animal magnets to play with on it.

2. Put on the oven door, glue down the burners, attach the stove knobs, and attach baskets to the fridge door.  Only 1 week left to get this done!  :)

3. Sewing machine (I'll be getting one for x-mas though!).  I'd also really like to try out Copic markers sometime.  They look awesome, but I hear they are really expensive.

1. What did you accomplish last week? (Any pictures to share?) I made a wooden toy bus, car, and dump truck for my baby cousin, we made our second ana-white providence bench (I just finished the last poly coat), and I finished the stocking holders.

ETA: Here's the cars- more info and pics on my very new NEW blog (the old one has been retired in case anyone here still has it in their feed). 

 



2. What are your plans for this week? Finish the stockings (well, I'd better, huh?), finish a few little gifts for the kids.

3. GTKY: What crafting tools are on your wish list? I'm honestly in a place where I feel pretty much prepared for any craft. I am sort of looking forward to the day my Cricut explodes so I can replace it with a Silhouette, but, I feel guilty about it because I honestly have zero problems with it. It even cuts circles pretty much perfectly (not something Cricut machines are known for). And I'm a former engineer- I can probably keep this thing alive for a loooong time. The day I can no longer use Make the Cut with it, though, you might find me driving to the nearest field with it in the trunk next to a baseball bat, "Damn it feels good to be a gansta" blaring. ;)

I have a collection of Copic markers, I do alot of cardmaking and they are so much fun!!  But I'll warn you now, they are addictive and you'll eventually want every single colour they make!

1. What did you accomplish last week? (Any pictures to share?) I finished painting the background on the train board for DDs gift from Santa and finished the crochet penguin I've been working on for her stocking.  I also made some little recipe boxes for a cookie exchange I participated in this past Saturday.

2. What are your plans for this week? Attach the tracks to the train board, sew "The Night Before Christmas" soft book for DD, sew some felt tophats for snowmen kits for the 4 other kids at DDs in-home daycare and make some thank-you cards for DD to send out after Christmas.  And of course clean the house and wrap presents before my in-laws arrive on Wednesday!

3. GTKY: What crafting tools are on your wish list? I'd love to get a Silhouette machine and more Copic markers too.

1. What did you accomplish last week? Finally finished painting DD's play kitchen, got the sink cut out.  Also, my mom finished her curtain for under the sink part and a matching apron for DD and her doll Big Smile

2. What are your plans for this week? Need to paint burners and attach, attach faucet, put on knobs and attach oven door.  Need to get a move on it since I've only got a week left!!

3. GTKY: What crafting tools are on your wish list? I would love a silhouette machine and an embroidery machine.

2) I need to finish LO's kitchen- can't believe xmas is in a week! I also need to jump on that apron since it's xmas fabric.

3) I want a sewing machine (I think santa may bring one, though) and a Sillouhette- but I feel bad because I have a Cricut which I almost never use.

Are you making a kitchen too?  I'd love to see pics of it!

I'm not really "making" one- I picked one up at a daycare this summer and it was awfully beat up so I'm painting it and sprucing it up.  It's one of those ones that has a separate fridge, sink, and stove. I'll post pics when it's done (hopefully by Friday!)

1. I finished making wooden initials for my nieces' and nephews' Christmas presents. (I would post pics, but I have no idea how to do it without making it part of my signature.)


2. I need to sew throw pillow covers for DS's man cave. (Go figure, the man likes pillows!) I also need to make our Christmas stockings and two heatable/chillable eye masks for Christmas gifts.

3. I would really like a serger and an embroidery machine, but I have no room for either. I am hoping we soon find a decent cabinet so I can hide away my crafting mess and sewing machine in the guest room, but I'm not even sure where to start looking.

1. Finished my step-mom's glass block nativity scene for her Christmas gift.

2. When my sister gets into town on Saturday, we're going to start working on a Rummy Royal board game made from felt and tshirt vinyl.

3. Not really a tool, but I would love a portable craft storage table. My dad is supposed to be making one for me, but I may hav to just make it myself.

1. I spray painted frames and added fabric for baby's room. DH doesn't really like them, but I do. They still need to be hung (obviously).

2. DH's sister is staying with us from Thursday through New Year's, so I may actually have an extra hand watching LO so I can get some stuff done (fingers crossed). I'd like to make LO another sleepsack. I have the pieces cut out, but I still have to pin and sew them together.

3. I'd love a serger and snap pliers.

3 short etched glasses (deer, "J" and moose}

4 tall etched moose glasses



2. What are your plans for this week?  I have a Pyrex dish left to etch and a fleece tie blanket.

I had fun sewing the pillowcases (literally my first sewing project using a machine!) so now I may want a small sewing machine in the future.

Finished making Christmas cards for the family and gender reveal scratchers.

No plans this week; 80 hour work week so I think I'll just be sleeping when I'm home :/

I hear rumor a Cricut Expression 2 is under the tree for me, along with a B is for Boy cartridge (my mom spilled the beans because she knew I was going to buy it for myself this Christmas), so some more fun cartridges are on my wish list!

Yes, it does sound crazy. I'm coming from the newer-ish Silhouette, but their customer service has been horrible (my computer that I had it paired with crashed, and I'd lost the load CD so I couldn't get it to work with another computer). I'm really looking forward to having something that is independent and more portable and doesn't need to be hooked up to a computer.

Btw, those cars you made are adorable!!!

That's too bad! Provocraft is actually pretty well known for their horrid c.s., so at least you're already used to that! LOL

The E2s have had a host of issues, so make sure you rip it out of the box and make sure it's working to your satisfaction. Might as well make yourself familiar with their craft room software, too, since you'll have to use it to do updates and such, if nothing else. I hope you're happy with it- there really are a few happy Cricut-ers left. ;)
