I feel like an awful teacher

I always give my kids pencils with their names on them for Christmas. I've taught at this school for so long that the kids expect it now. I totally forgot until the weekend. I'm not going to get them until next week :(. So, no Christmas gift for them. However, they have been begging for me to bring the baby in, so I arranged for her to surprise them at the end of the day. Just had to share because I feel so bad!

:(  I forgot all about kid's Christmas gifts this year too.  I usually at least do candy canes or Christmas themed pencils/erasers too.  The good news is that we have done a lot of projects (elementary) and I'm sure they are thrilled with making ornaments to take home.  They'll get gifts and enjoy their break and won't even remember that you didn't get them something by the end anyhow.

Can you bring in a treat? I bring in candy canes and my kids make peanut brittle. They are high schoolers, so peanut brittle is within their abilities, plus I teach a lab science so it's a fun lab for them too. Depending on your students ages, maybe you could decorate cut out cookies or something?

We are doing a craft tomorrow, which we never do and they are excited. I'm sure they'll love the gift after Christmas, too!

Don't be too hard on yourself.  It's the holidays and there's so much to do.  They'll enjoy the craft and a gift after Christmas is just as good.  Enjoy your break!
