Thanks ladies! I guess I was feeling like I was skimping on them, but they wouldnt ask for anything for Christmas that was available at the stores (other than the 2 small things they are each getting from Santa)! It was very frustrating. DS2 wanted construction toys, a dump truck, a bulldozer and a crane... the first two we found on ebay for Santa to give and we looked high and low for an affordable crane with no luck. I found the building plan for these for $4 and modified them to fit the tools I have on hand and the lumber that I could get easily... some one was selling one of these for $130 on ebay...I made 2 for around $70 with about 48hours of labor stretched over a month.
DS1 wanted a camera and leap pad games (Santa had already taken care of those before DS said anything)... that was it. Until he saw angry bird plushies at Hobby Lobby. the problem there was that they were $15+ each, even on ebay. DS kept saying how cool it would be if he had a bunch of them so he could set up his own games. Insert problem solving solution #2... 18 dollars in fleece (and a trip into my fabric stash), 5 dollars in beans and we have angry birds.
I guess I'm just a little self conscious... I use to make tons of the Christmas gifts we gave, but I was never sure if they were really well received, so I stopped doing it. This is the first time I have ever made gifts for my boys for Christmas or Birthday, I am praying that they love them.
