Daycare rate increase poll (non-clicky)

How much (by percentage) does your daycare generally increase rates each year?  There was a sign up at our center that, after years of holding rates steady, there will be a increase in price in 2013.  When I did the math, we will end up paying 16% more next year.  Personally, I would have preferred smaller increases over several years, rather than a big increase all at once, but we love our center, so we'll make it work.  I'm just curious about the "usual" increase.  Do your rates go up every year? Every other year? And by how much?

I don't think our daycare has increased rates yearly.  I think every few years they will do a bigger increase.

I haven't been there but 4 months however have not seen anything about a rate increase. I had never even thought about it.

We started going in 2011 and they hadn't raised for several years and then they raised it about 5% for 2012.  They haven't said anything about 2013 yet.

We've been at our current daycare 2 years and haven't had a rate increase.  Come to think of it, I'm rather surprised we haven't.

We've been there 5 months, we had a 5% increase after we were there 2 months.  She said it was the first increase in 2 years.

We have been at our in home for 3 years and have never seen an increase. The only thing that has changed was she used to have a multi-child discount but stopped doing that. So we are paying full price for both girls to go.

If there was an increase I would be on your side and vote little bits every year.

I don't remember the exact amount, but our tuition goes up about 3% every year and we go to a center.

Every Sept it goes up a little. I don't know the % and can't figure it out because I don't remember what I was paying before the last change & he has changed rooms & the rates dropped since... but it went up like $25 a month.

Our old DCP and current DCP both increased them annually, by about 3-4%.

When we signed up for our center we actually "locked in" our rate. Since they were brand new and we registered before they opened they advised us that our rate would be locked and we would never pay more than what we signed up at. I saw their rate sheet recently and infant care is now showing as 7% more than what we pay for infant care. Of course as DS gets older then rates decrease, but if for some reason they end up higher than what we started at we will never pay for than what we pay now.

My oldest daughter has been at our center for 2.5 years. In August they increased their rate by about 5% for the first time since we've been there.

This September our rates went up 4.5%. They claim they try to keep the  increase under 5%, but it does happen every year. Frankly, I'm irritated by it because the daycare is in my office building, which is a federal government building, so it serves only federal employees, and we've had a wage freeze for 3 years now, with no hope of an increase, yet the damn daycare keeps increasing tuition. No inflation my rear end.

The first year we were there they raised rates across the board. The second year they only raised rates for part-time kids. This year they aren't raising anything at all. I am so thankful.

When we toured, I asked this question and all 4 said they raise around 10%a year.  The one we chose raises every Nov and this year it was by 8%.

I don't know how often our rates go up because we just started at our center in March, but they have announced a 3% increase for next year, which I thought was reasonable.

I *think* what our DCP does is increase rates for new/incoming kids. Our rate hasn't gone up at all,

Ugh.  Making me do math! :)  Ours goes up about $10/per month each year, which, according to my trusty calculator, is about a 7% increase.

Ours increased 10% about a month after we started, which was awesome. I'm hoping we don't see another increase for awhile. He's only been going to DC for 6 months, so I have no idea how often they do it.

The last two years it went up by about $75 a month. It's too early for math, sorry.
