We are hosting Christmas Eve this year and we recently found out that my husbands aunt has a really bad flea infestation in her apartment. We would like her to take care of it before her and her family come for christmas eve so that they dont bring them here.
I called the vet to make sure I wasn't making a mountain out of a mole hill and she said no that they could defiantly bring them here with them
I also checked with our pedi and he said that infants shouldn't be around fleas at all.
so heres the problem DH's mother doesnt want to tell his aunt to get rid of them and thinks we are making this too big of an issue. She called his sister to talk about it behind our backs saying that we were being unreasonable...I'm upset
what would you do about this?
I'm very forward so *I* would call his aunt myself.
My kids are my #1 priority, not keeping his aunt happy. If she refused to do anything about it, I would say due to health reasons, then, they cannot come to your house.
What would you do if your pet had flees? I think you are worrying too much... Just try to relax and enjoy the holiday or back out if it bothers you. Also you could be the one to call and ask her to deal with the flees since your bothered by it...
I would think she has tried to get rid of them unless she enjoys the itching bugs on your skin feeling... Try to be gentle, and think about how you would feel and what you would do if it was in your house on your pet with your baby...

how could she relax knowing her house might become infested? I would be gentle yes and I would have dh call since it is his family, but her first concern needs to be her immediate family.
We have had similar situations with my MIL. Be understanding, I explained to her that we had an issue at one point and explain how we took care of it (all of which is true, our dogs had never had fleas until one summer when the neighbor got a dog). Our yard got infested because of their yard/dog. We treated our dogs/the yard/and bombed the house all at the same time. We were able to stay proactive and avoid fleas after that.
Tell them yourself. Problem solved.
Also, it's DEFINITELY. Not DEFIANTLY. Sorry, pet peeve of mine.
I prayed for this child, and the lord has granted me what I asked of him. 1 Samuel 1:27

Norry, I just love you. Also pp, it's fleas, not flees -- pet peeve of mine.
So, how are you going to have her prove that the fleas are gone? Or are just going to uninvite her?
I think you are over reacting.
