:/

So our regular teachers are out all this week and the DC is closed next week, so we'll be giving LO's teachers their gifts when we get back from the holidays.  So this morning DH bought a tumbler of Starbucks and took in cookies we made for the other teachers and admin at the DC. He got an oh okay...go ahead and just put it with the rest. I guess next year I won't bother scrambling with a cookie plate and having him juggle everything while we're trying to pack for our holiday trip.

I can relate. Last year, I left $10 Subway gift cards and Christmas cards for the admin. I know it's not extravagant, but I did not get a response at all. This year, that amount went to the school chef and a couple of teachers outside DS's classroom who go out of their way to make sure he is enjoying school. The chef lit up and graciously thanked me. I left the other teacher cards/gift cards with the admin at the front desk. I did not need a huge thank you from the admin, but something to know that they at least got it. It is a bit sad that they can't say a quick thanks. :/

Exactly..you don't have to sing me a song, but gee whiz. The truly sad thing is...my husband is a head of school for a sister school of my son's DC. Every year people give him things and he writes a thank you note to each one...I don't expect that much, but you could lift your head from your desk and at least smile. He received a beautiful homemade ornament this year and he said he asked the mom how she made it, and was really excited to try the pumpkin chocolate chip bread another parent left for him. I had actually wanted to get them gift cards, but lost track of time (unfortunately, I'm a slacker that way this year.) Glad I didn't bother wasting the time.

That is so sweet of your husband!  It would make my day.

Yeah DH took cookies yesterday to DC and they said "sit them there."  When I came to pick LO up they hadn't even been touched.  Then we gave LO's main teacher a $25 Visa gift card and she said...Thanks (in a monotone)...without even looking at him, then turned around and started talking to another adult.  I enjoy giving.  However, I'm a teacher and I'm always grateful for any gifts I  get and try to make that child feel like it's the most special thing I've ever gotten (whether it's a $25 gift card or a dollar store mug).

That's awful! I teach school and I, granted, only get a few things because my kids are poor. However, today, I got three packages, two homemade cards, and a bear for Boo that has obviously been well loved, to be nice about it. I made a big deal of each one and each child will get a thank you note!
