6wk MC - what to expect

After some spotting, went to the doctor on Monday and Wednesday. Levels went up very, very little between the two visits and when they did the US they could see the gestational sac, but nothing else. Looks like things stopped developing at about 4.5 weeks. I know I must be more than 4.5 weeks along based on when I got my positive test.

So now I'm just waiting, wondering when things will pass. I'm not sure what to expect. I'm guessing it will be like a crampy, heavy period, but I don't know. Has anyone had a MC at about the same time?

Thank you for the help ladies. I'm so sorry any of us have to be here.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I was a little further along than you, so probably my experience is going to be different, but I was given cytotec to pass everything and it took about a day, with the worst of it being over the course of about 2 hours (really awful cramping and passing large clots... which I don't know if you'll have as badly since you're not as far along - I was 7 weeks and carrying twins, but at the point I had the miscarriage it was only two empty sacs). That was two weeks ago, and I'm still spotting but physically I'm fine.  I would assume that since you're earlier, it might resemble more of a heavy period with a little clotting, but I think everyone is very different too so I don't know.

I hope it's easy and quick for you. There's nothing about this that doesn't suck. *hugs*

Hi Annata,

I started bleeding just over six weeks (on Sunday). I've had some pretty heavy cramping, bleeding with substantial clotting, lengthy bouts of crying (especially watching Newtown, CT coverage), and some heartburn. My bleeding seems to go back and forth from spotting to heavy period and I can't tell what it's going to be for the next few hours. It's really frustrating.

So sorry you're here, sweetie. I'm not too far ahead of you, but let me know if you need anything.

Yup almost the exact same. I found out at 6wks but didn't miscarry until almost 7wks baby stopped developing at 4.5wks. I had cramping and a headache all week in between. The cramping got worse but very little bleeding. I passed the sac first which was the most emotional part and then heavy bleeding for 3 to 4 days. It is physically and emotionally painful and draining but you will survive. Hang in there. I am very sorry for your loss. This board is a very supportive place.

I am so sorry for your loss; T&P for you and your family.

I was just about 7 weeks and had the same experience as you. I decided to have a natural m/c and not do a d&c since I had already started bleeding. I had heavy bleeding with clots and 3 days of off and on cramping. It lasted about 8 days total.
