Cow's milk in bottle?

As you were/are transitioning to cow's milk did you only offer in the sippy cup or bottle? The daycare basically threatened us that we had better not every put cow's milk in his bottles, but yesterday at his 12 month well visit the doctor said she'd recommend offering in sippies at meals, water in sippies at snacks and then just put the cow's milk in bottles too and just slowly start dropping bottles. She said it shouldn't make the bottle transition any harder.

I'm conflicted - so what are you all doing or finding with your LOs? TIA!

My ds just started milk and he doesn't like it. He will only drink it from a bottle so we are fighting that to start. I think try it the way that fits your life the best. You have to face daycare everyday!

We've been giving cows milk for a few weeks now.  At first, I was just offering it in sippy cups, but I have a hard time getting him to drink enough milk from them--he prefers to use them as projectiles!  I give him cow's milk in a bottle in the morning and at night.   We dropped the middle of the day bottle recently.  I also offer milk in a sippy at other points during the day.

Do what works best for you.  Right now, it is more important to me that he gets his milk in and using a cup wasn't accomplishing that.  I figure that in the coming weeks/months, we will drop the morning bottle and then the nighttime one.

Do what works for you and LO.

Right now we're doing a first thing in the morning bottle and a bottle about an hour before bed. The rest of the day he gets WCM in a sippy.

We did it in a straw cup.  At first, he was not getting enough, but he was still getting formula in bottles in the morning and at night.  After a couple of weeks, he got the hang of it and we packed away the bottles about 3 weeks ago.  He turned one on Nov. 29, but we started transitioning a couple of weeks before that.  For him to go to the one year old room at DC, he has to be eating table food and off bottles, so that was our main reason.

Same for us. That way I know he is at least getting 10 oz for sure a day. He drinks a little more in the sippy throughout the day, but that's only like 5 oz during the whole day.

I never put WCM in a bottle, I wanted to make all transitions at once.  As soon as we were out of formula, we were also done with bottles.  She gets a sippy of milk with meals and water the rest of the day.  We had been cutting down on bottles over the 3-4 weeks prior to running out of formula though.  Her last week on bottles, she was only getting 1 per day.

Thanks ladies! I certainly don't want to make the bottle transition any harder than it needs to be, but he just doesn't get enough from the sippy so may have to do some in the baba!
