If you have a thin toddler, what do you do for pjs?

Hello,

I rarely post here but, I was hoping all of you can help.  I have a tall and thin toddler (almost 3 years old).  And I am wondering what to do about pjs.   Because we will be starting potty training soon I think we might have to change what we do.  We typically for winter do the all in one zip up footed pjs.  This way he doesn't have to have the waist to keep them up.  Last summer we did either the one piece outfits that snapped up the front.  These were in 24 months and I don't think they make them in 3T size.  We also did the shorts and shirt but had to roll up the shorts to get them to stay up.  I have seen some people use both of these out so I don't know if they are pjs per say.  We have found the best luck with Carter's brand.  I am just a little worried about the potty training and having the footed pjs.

So, if you have a thin toddler, what do you do for pjs?  TIA

We have the Carter's footed PJs because they fit snug. He is already potty trained though and yes they are kind of a PITA when he has to go. But if he has to pee, we just let him pee standing up so we don't have to take the pajama off completely.

DD wears two piece pjs and has for quite some time because the feeted pjs never fit her well they either fit her in length but were way too big, or much too short and fit her well.

DS refuses to wear 1 piece pjs any more, so we just do the two piece ones, usually Carters, that are the tighter/slimmer fitting (as opposed to the ones where the pants have wider legs and shirt isn't as fitted).

Don't have this problem, but you can get two piece pjs from Old Navy and the Gap. We live in a warm climate so DD1 wears nightgowns, or shorts and a shirt.

My daughter loves nightgowns, which probably doesn't help with your son. We also do 2 piece PJs from carters. They're usually snug enough to stay up without falling down.

I'd probably just buy some cotton shorts and inexpensive tshirts in whatever size fit him so you have the flexibility of a different size top/bottom.

DD1 is 25% for weight and 90% for height. She needs 3T for length, but 2T for waist. We've just had to go with the 2 peice PJ's in 3T. She is potty trained during the day, but not at night, so the diaper helps keep them up, but I find it really doesn't matter if they're a little big since she's just sleeping in them. Like PP I have found Carters to be the best fit.

My skinny and tall DD does well with Costco brand two piece jammies.  She used to do footie pajamas but when we switched her from the crib to her full bed and potty trained we put all of those away!

DD is in Carter's 2T PJs. The 2 piece actually fall off her butt. She's little and PT so those bottoms always sag. I have her in footed PJs at night now since it is cold and her room gets down to about 62 at night now. She is night time trained as well. She rarely gets up to go pee at night but when she does she still needs my help anyway she's also still in a crib. We just zip her down and she sits on her little potty and I throw a blanket around her until she's ready to zip up again. She's also still in a sleep sack so all kinds of things to be a bit of a nuisance but for me it is worth it. She typically uses the regular toilet during the day but at night her potty is right by her bed so it is easy to do.

My son is 40.5 inches tall and 33lbs. We haven't done one piece footed pjs in years. His feet were always too long for them. We have good luck with the fitted carters pjs as well. I usually do a 4t on top, 3t on bottom since his legs are shorter. It works fine.

We do a lot of 1 piece footed in the winter, but for pants - the thermal kind stay up pretty well as they seem to be cut thinner. Otherwise I take in the sides a bit of the pants so that they don't fall off but she is still able to get them up and down on her own.

DD is pretty thin, but we've always had pretty good luck with the 2 piece fitted Carter's pj's.

We've always been fine with any of the fitted 2 piece pajama sets. They might not be quite as slim fitting, but they work fine. I prefer Carters and Old Navy. Oh, and TCP usually work well. Gymboree tends to shrink so the shirts are too short for us.

We use two piece pjs from baby gap because they make them to fit snugly (on most kids), so they fit my thin son.  He is nearly 2 1/2 but still wears some size 18 months pants.

2 piece pjs from The Childrens Place, Gap or Old Navy fit best.
