Round 2 of Cytotec

We got the news last week about our miscarriage and were given the 3 options. I decided to wait it out until this past Wednesday when I had the first dose of Cytotec. That round was administered by the doctor rectally and I had lots of cramping and thought I had passed the sac. I went back to the OB today for an u/s and was told that I never passed the sac. The second dose of Cytotec was administered vaginally. The cramps today started a lot earlier and are a lot stronger. I also seem to be bleeding more this round than last time.

Did any of you ladies have this reaction to the medication? I just want to know that this is normal.

I only had it vaginally, so I can't speak to s comparison, but yes, the pain came on fast and hard. I wrote out my full experience a few posts down if you're interested.

So sorry you have to do this a second time. Hope it goes quickly for you.

I only had it vaginally as well, but yes the cramps are awful and come in waves. They immediately lessened to a manageable level once I passed the sac. At least I am assuming that's what it was since it was the largest of my clots.

So sorry you're going through this.

I only had it vaginally. I have a link to my blog in my siggy that explains my experience with it. In short, it hurt and was the worst pain I ever experienced, I didn't really "bleed" much...mostly just clotted. I ended up passing everything with the first dose, even though I did take two. GL!

Update: The process this time took. It was the most pain I have ever been in and I would never wish this experience on my worst enemy. From the time I was given the Cytotec to the time I passed the sac was about 3 hours.

Passing the sac was a flcking emotional experience. Between the physical pain and seeing the sac I never want to go thru this again.

Glad to hear it was over with quickly, and I agree on the pain. Make sure you take some time for yourself the next couple days and take it easy.

My doctor does it a lot differently. I took 4 pills orally, and then 12 hours later took another four. He said he does it this way because if not everything passes with the first dose, whatever's left behind will go with the second dose. He also said there's no difference between taking them orally or vaginally.

That said. I am terribly sorry you had to go through this. It is so emotionally a d physically draining.

I completely 100% can relate to the physical and emotional pain. It was the worst pain I ever felt and I had to see my baby, too.
